The power structure in the DC Universe isn’t expected to shift soon. As Superman’s movie run comes close to its conclusion, James Gunn and his team are preparing to launch another installment in their expanding franchise: Peacemaker Season 2. The well-liked anti-hero is set for another adventure with the 11th Street Kids, but there’s a sense of change in the air. Somehow or other, the HBO series, initially launched when the DC Extended Universe was at its peak, is poised to become part of the main DCU, bringing a variety of characters along with it. The specifics on how this will happen are still unclear, but the motivation behind it is obvious – it’ll provide an opportunity for numerous superheroes and villains to cross paths with characters like David Corenswet’s Superman.
Before delving into crossovers, let’s first get acquainted with the cast of Peacemaker Season 2. Many characters from Season 1 will reappear, and a handful of fresh faces are joining the crew, set to make a mark in their DC Universe debuts. Fear not about spoilers, as this article won’t be updated until the new season starts airing.
Peacemaker (John Cena)
Following his narrow escape from the incidents in “The Suicide Squad”, Christopher Smith, alias Peacemaker, encounters extraterrestrial beings called Butterflies that manipulate human minds. In this new scenario, Peacemaker’s adversary is an alternate version of himself, along with Rick Flag Sr., who seeks retribution for the loss of his son. This battle promises to be a personal and intense confrontation.
Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland)
In a new scenario, the character known as Peacemaker teams up with a band of A.R.G.U.S. operatives to eliminate an adversary group called the Butterflies. Among them is Emilia Harcourt, who initially avoids any interaction with him. However, it’s possible that her perspective might shift in Season 2. As romance may not be at the forefront during battle times.
Vigilante (Freddie Stroma)
Enthusiastic Peacemaker devotee Adrian Chase unexpectedly joins Project Butterfly, and surprisingly becomes a valuable ally. The pivotal scene in Vigilante’s story occurs when he bravely risks his own life to aid in the battle against White Dragon, Peacemaker’s father. In the upcoming Season 2, Vigilante remains steadfast by his friend’s side, standing by him through all trials and tribulations.
Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks)
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I must say that Leota Adebayo’s presence among the A.R.G.U.S. agents from the get-go seems to stir up some discomfort. And guess what? Her revelation of being Amanda Waller’s daughter only confirms their reservations. But in the finale of Peacemaker Season 1, she walks away from her mother’s relentless pursuit and chooses instead to welcome her newfound family. The future battles Adebayo may encounter in Season 2 remain unclear, but one thing’s certain: she’ll need all the allies she can muster.
John Economos (Steve Agee)
As a die-hard movie buff, let me share some insights about the crew from 11th Street – the unforgettable gang that’s been gracing both DCU and DCEU screens. Among them is John Economos, a fellow A.R.G.U.S. operative who’s often the target of good-natured ribbing by Peacemaker and Vigilante. Despite their constant jabs, his significance to our team can’t be overlooked – he’s brimming with invaluable contributions that keep us going strong.
Judomaster (Nhut Le)
The Butterflies gain a supporter in Judomaster, a skilled martial artist who’s open to the thought of ushering in fresh leadership for Earth. He delivers a few defeats to Peacemaker in Season 1, but it seems his days as a villain are behind him. In Season 2, he joins forces with another one of his adversaries, Economos.
Characters New to Peacemaker
The second season of “Peacemaker” won’t just feature the familiar faces engaging in endless squabbles. Instead, we can expect an influx of fresh characters who will propel the series to greater depths, solidifying their place in the future of the DC Universe.
- Multiverse White Dragon (Robert Patrick)
- An alternate version of Peacemaker’s dad, Auggie Smith, will cause problems for the titular anti-hero when he travels to another dimension.
- Multiverse Peacemaker (John Cena)
- As if fighting his dad again wasn’t bad enough, Peacemaker will also come face-to-face with another version of himself in Season 2.
- Langston Fleury (Tim Meadows)
- Rick Flag isn’t going to hunt down Peacemaker alone, enlisting the help of a fellow A.R.G.U.S. employee, Langston Fleury.
- White Rabbit (Brey Noelle)
- One of the shady characters joining the cast of Peacemaker is White Rabbit, a little-known criminal in DC Comics who can duplicate herself.
- Sasha Bordeaux (Sol Rodríguez)
- A.R.G.U.S. agent Sasha Bordeaux will also join the hunt for Peacemaker, but her comic book history teases that she could have big things in her future.
- Red St. Wild (Michael Rooker)
- Frequent Gunn collaborator Michael Rooker is back with DC, and this time around, he’s playing a villain who wants to take Peacemaker’s pal Eagly off the board.
Established DCU Characters Set to Appear in Peacemaker
As the DCU train sets off, Peacemaker swiftly jumps aboard, making the most of every moment. Expect an array of DCU characters to make appearances, and prepare for continuous shocks even beyond the initial episodes.
- Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion)
- One of Earth’s Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner, will listen to Peacemaker’s pitch to join the Justice Gang.
- Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced)
- Gardner’s teammate, Hawkgirl, will be by his side during tryouts, but she’s more concerned about eating than recruiting new heroes.
- Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn)
- The man behind the Justice Gang, billionaire Maxwell Lord, will also be in attendance for Peacemaker’s pitch and decide whether he’s a good fit.
- Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo)
- The head of A.R.G.U.S. will return to the small screen once again in Peacemaker Season 2, and he’s going to prove how good he is at holding a grudge.
Peacemaker Season 2 begins airing on August 21, 2025.
