For Season 2 of “Peacemaker”, some key characters from the initial HBO Max series won’t be returning. Excitement is building for the show’s comeback, as it boasts six new faces who were also in “Superman”. Fans are intrigued to see how this show will tie into the larger DC Universe, given that John Cena’s character, Christopher Smith (also known as Peacemaker), had a brief appearance in “Superman”.
In essence, the majority of key actors from Peacemaker’s first season are set to resume their roles in Season 2. But there will be some actors who won’t be coming back, which means their characters won’t feature in the next series as well.
In the first season of “Peacemaker”, there were numerous deaths, including significant characters. This led to several surprising scenes that left viewers saying farewell to more than one character.
Two years following the initial airing of Season 1, the much-anticipated return of Peacemaker is set for August 21, 2025 on HBO Max. Joining John Cena reprising his role as the main character will be Steve Agee as John “Dye-Beard” Economos, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase (also known as Vigilante), Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo. At San Diego Comic-Con, these familiar faces have unveiled their individual posters to mark their upcoming appearances.
Every Major Peacemaker Character Not Returning in Season 2
Chukwudi Iwuji – Clemson Murn
In Season 1, Chukwudi Iwuji took on a significant part, where his character, Clemson Murn, made an early appearance right from the premiere. He played a crucial role in introducing the character of Peacemaker, who teamed up with him to combat the Butterflies.
Upon Murn’s arrival, it became clear that he reported straight to Amanda Waller and assumed command over the 11th Street Kids. Their primary mission was to eliminate the Butterflies, but an unexpected turn of events occurred when Murn got possessed by a Butterfly, leaving the actual Murn deceased and his body now being manipulated by a Butterfly known as Ik Nobe Llok.
In the end, since Ik Nobe Llok was slain by Queen Eek Stack Ik Ik, it signified that Murn no longer existed permanently, as his body was annihilated. Consequently, we can anticipate that Murn will not make a comeback in Season 2.
Annie Chang – Sophie Song
In the series Peacemaker Season 1, I played the role of Sophie Song, a detective. Together with Larry Fitzgibbon, we delved into the mysterious death of Annie Sturphausen, a case that was closed at the end of Episode 1. Our investigation eventually led us to cross paths with Peacemaker, an encounter that put us squarely on a perilous path.
While searching for Peacemaker, Sophie was encountered by Eek Stack Ik Ik, the queen. The queen took control of Sophie’s body, causing her to shudder violently. Later, Sophie’s body was inhabited by the Butterfly, which used it temporarily. Unfortunately, Peacemaker eventually managed to fatally shoot Sophie’s possessed body.
Lochlyn Munro – Larry Fitzgibbon
It’s worth noting that Larry Fitzgibbon, similar to Sophie Song, was a police detective. Together, they pursued the elusive Peacemaker. However, an unusual event occurred where Larry, like Sophie, was taken over by a butterfly.
In the end, it wasn’t Peacemaker who took Larry’s life; rather, it was Vigilante who did so. This fatal encounter left Larry’s body irreparably damaged.
Larry didn’t meet his end at the hands of Peacemaker, but instead it was Vigilante who ended up being responsible for his death. This lethal encounter proved to be the final blow for Larry.
Both versions maintain the original meaning while making it more natural and easy to read.
Christopher Heyerdahl – Caspar Locke
Christopher Heyerdahl’s character, Caspar Locke, was much like Clemson Murn – a hired gun. He was appointed the police captain of Evergreen Police Department by Amanda Waller for two distinct purposes: one, to ensure that Auggie Smith (Peacemaker’s father) remained behind bars; and two, to halt any law enforcement inquiries that might potentially result in Peacemaker’s incarceration.
Similar to other characters not appearing in Season 2, Caspar’s physical form was possessed by one of the Butterflies. In due course, Peacemaker terminated Caspar’s body, effectively ending Caspar’s existence permanently.
In the first season of Peacemaker, every character met their end. Yet, there’s a chance these characters might make a surprise appearance in Season 2. Since the new season delves into an alternate universe, it’s plausible that some or all of these characters could still be alive there. However, if they do resurface, expect only fleeting appearances rather than significant roles in the upcoming series.
