DreamWorks Animation is a big name in animated movies, but their films are a mixed bag. They’ve created huge hits like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda, but also some disappointments like Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. Recently, a surprisingly well-received animated film from DreamWorks started streaming on Peacock.
Everyone thought DreamWorks’ 2016 animated movie, Trolls, would be a failure, but it actually became a big success! Now, you can stream the original Trolls movie on Peacock, along with its sequel, Trolls: World Tour, and the Trolls TV series Trolls: The Beat Goes On and Trolls: TrollsTopia. Based on the classic Good Luck Trolls dolls, the movie follows Poppy, a relentlessly cheerful troll, and Branch, a grumpy pessimist, as they go on an adventure to save their friends from the Bergens.
DreamWorks’ Trolls Defied Expectations by Delivering an Infectious and High-Energy Movie
Everyone was surprised by how successful Trolls became. Many people initially thought it would be a typical, uninspired movie just made to sell toys. However, DreamWorks delivered something much better! Trolls turned out to be a genuinely entertaining film, a welcome addition to their collection. Its bright, colorful animation – almost like a handmade craft project – and incredibly catchy songs, like Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”, made it a high-energy and fun experience for both children and adults. The movie’s positive story, infectious happiness, and talented voice cast created characters that were truly lovable.
The movie Trolls was a huge hit! It made $347 million at the box office, and its song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” was nominated for an Academy Award. Critics also liked it, giving it a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a “Certified Fresh” label. The film’s success led to a whole series of Trolls movies, starting with Trolls: World Tour, which had the biggest opening weekend ever for a digital release in April 2020. Trolls Band Together came out in 2023, though it’s not currently available on Peacock.
What’s New on Peacock?
Peacock has a lot of new movies available now, perfect for family movie nights! This February, along with Trolls, you can also stream The Boss Baby and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Other recent additions include Along Came Polly, Man on Fire, Train To Busan, and Conclave.
