For years, Godzilla pretty much was the kaiju scene, but in 2013, something fresh came along. Guillermo del Toro, a director I really admire, put his own unique stamp on these giant monster movies. He didn’t just give us monsters, he gave them a high-tech fight – huge robots piloted by humans! It’s a genuinely fun movie, and honestly, it’s aged incredibly well. I was thrilled to see it just landed on Peacock, so I can revisit it anytime.
Peacock gained a significant amount of exciting sci-fi content last week with the addition of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. They also added the sequel on the same day, but it doesn’t quite live up to the original, which del Toro directed.
In Pacific Rim: Uprising, John Boyega and Scott Eastwood play the next generation of Jaeger pilots, picking up the story several years after the first Pacific Rim film. While the sequel connects to the original, it’s mostly a separate story and you don’t really need to have seen the first movie to enjoy it.
It’s great that Peacock is adding these movies, but they won’t be available for long. Think of it like a one-month rental – both Pacific Rim films will be removed from the service at the end of December.
New Movies on Peacock
While Pacific Rim is a major addition to Peacock this December, it’s not the only new movie worth checking out. The streaming service also includes films like 10 Cloverfield Lane, Gladiator, Creed, and Jingle All the Way.

Okay, so I was making a list of movies I’ve seen, and here’s what I came up with. It’s a pretty eclectic mix! It includes everything from thrillers like 10 Cloverfield Lane and 300, to classics like The Addams Family and Rocky. I’m a sucker for a good adventure, so the Bill & Ted series is in there, naturally. There’s some holiday cheer with A Christmas Carol and both versions of Miracle on 34th Street. I also enjoy a bit of drama – Erin Brockovich and Gladiator are favorites. And let’s not forget the fun stuff – Pitch Perfect, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and even Pixels! I’ve got some comedies in there too, like Trading Places and Tammy. Oh, and I’m a big fan of the Rocky and Creed franchises, so those take up a good chunk of the list. There are a few others sprinkled in like The Martian, Pride and Prejudice, and Everest, rounding out my movie memories.
