Peacock, long recognized as a treasure trove of unique and unparalleled shows, continues to shine by adding one of the less-acknowledged yet captivating crime dramas. This series, once absent from streaming platforms, is now accessible on Peacock, having previously been available for free on Pluto TV with advertisements.
On Peacock, you can now stream all seven seasons of “Rizzoli & Isles,” a crime drama starring Angie Harmon as Detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as Dr. Maura Isles. Originally aired on TNT for seven seasons, this series is an adaptation from the book series by author Tess Gerritsen. Until now, it was only available for purchase on streaming platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube. Now, Peacock subscribers can enjoy watching all 105 episodes of this critically acclaimed show.
This show, titled “Rizzoli & Isles,” focuses on two women, Detective Jane Rizzoli (played by Harmon) and Dr. Maura Isles (portrayed by Alexander), who despite their distinct personalities and origins, share a deep friendship and teamwork that enables them to collaborate effectively in solving murders. Rizzoli is a detective within the Boston Homicide department, while Isles previously served as the Chief Medical Examiner. The series on TNT was recognized twice for the People’s Choice Awards, winning in 2016 for Favorite Cable TV actress for Sasha Alexander. Additionally, it was nominated in 2015 for Favorite Cable TV Drama.
The TV show called “it” was specifically designed for airing on smaller screens and created by Janet Tamaro. The star-studded cast included Lee Thompson Young (who unfortunately passed away), Bruce McGill, Jordan Bridges, Lorraine Bracco, among others. Additional guest stars were Billy Burke, Enver Gjokaj, Donnie Wahlberg, Ernie Hudson, Eddie Cibrian, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Annie Wersching, Ever Carradine, and Yvette Nicole Brown. The series ended its run on the small screen in 2016. There have been talks about revisiting this successful show, but so far, nothing substantial has come out of these discussions.
Initially, Rizzoli & Isles didn’t receive much acclaim from critics. In fact, its first season garnered a quite disappointing 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, by its third season, the tide seemed to turn for the series, with critics giving it an impressive Fresh rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fortunately, viewers appeared to be quite fond of the show, as indicated by its 89% rating on the Popcornmeter from audience members.
The Rizzoli & Isles book series, which serves as its basis, contains a total of thirteen novels penned by author Tess Gerritsen. As of now, it seems she hasn’t revealed plans for additional installments in the series, but things can shift. In the meantime, all seven seasons of Rizzoli & Isles are available for streaming on Peacock. If you’re interested in reading the books that inspired the TNT crime drama, they are currently accessible at any bookstore.
