Saoirse Ronan has consistently demonstrated her incredible acting ability. Over the course of her career, spanning more than twenty years, the actress has delivered captivating performances in films such as Lady Bird, Little Women, The Lovely Bones, and Mary Queen of Scots. However, some of her work hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves. Now, fans of Ronan can rediscover one of her lesser-known films, as it’s become available to stream on Peacock.
In 2011, Saoirse Ronan played the role of a young girl who grew up in the Finnish wilderness with her father in Joe Wright’s action-packed thriller Hanna, now available to stream on Peacock as of September 1st. This film was the second time Ronan and Wright worked together, following Atonement, and focuses on the story of Ronan’s character, who was trained to be an assassin. The plot follows her journey as she emerges from seclusion and travels across Europe while being pursued by the CIA. The cast also includes Eric Bana, Vicky Krieps, Cate Blanchett, John Macmillan, Michelle Dockery, Jessica Barden, Olivia Williams, Jason Flemyng, and Tom Hollander.
Why You Should Watch Hanna
As a movie lover, I found Hanna to be a really unique and exciting action film. It’s not just about the thrills; it beautifully weaves in a story about growing up, figuring out who you are, and finding your place in the world as Hanna steps out on her own. Saoirse Ronan is phenomenal in her first action role – she more than holds her own against seasoned actors and really shows off her versatility. She delivers such a layered performance as Hanna, brilliantly portraying both the character’s emotional vulnerability and her incredible skills as an almost unstoppable assassin. It’s a breakout role that perfectly captures Hanna’s journey of self-discovery and coming-of-age.
Even though Hanna features stunning visuals, expertly done and exciting action scenes, a fantastic soundtrack from The Chemical Brothers, and strong acting, it’s a film that hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves. Now that it’s available on streaming, it’s definitely worth checking out. The movie earned $65 million worldwide and currently has a 71% approval rating from critics and a 66% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
New Movies Streaming on Peacock
Hanna isn’t the only new movie now available on Peacock. It joined NBCUniversal’s streaming service on September 1st, along with several other titles, such as 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, 3:10 to Yuma, Billy Madison, Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds and Psycho, Definitely, Maybe, Downton Abbey, Miss Congeniality, and the first three Shrek films.
Peacock added a bunch of new titles on October 1st, including movies like The Crow, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Edward Scissorhands, Friday Night Lights, Hot Fuzz, the entire animated How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, and Shaun of the Dead, all becoming available to stream.
