Peacock’s Remake of a ‘90s Classic TV Show Just Released Its Final Episode

Since launching in 2020, Peacock has heavily relied on popular shows from the past to attract viewers. The streaming service, owned by NBCUniversal, has a large collection of beloved classic TV shows and has often revisited them with new versions or continuations. Recently, the final episodes of one of its most successful remakes – a popular sitcom from the 1990s – were added to Peacock, completing its December content updates.

The last three episodes of Bel-Air, Peacock’s updated take on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starring Jabari Banks as Will Smith, were released on December 8th. Created by Morgan Cooper, the show first premiered on Peacock in 2022, and its eight-episode final season began streaming last month. You can now watch the series finale, titled “The Next Act,” on Peacock.

Bel-Air Series Finale Has a Big Surprise for ‘Fresh Prince’ Fans

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the final episode of Bel-Air. The show recently concluded its four seasons with an ending that paid tribute to the original series, bringing the story to a satisfying and emotional close.

As “The Next Act” concludes, Will is leaving Los Angeles to return home to Philadelphia. Before he goes, Carlton approaches him and admits that facing the future can be frightening. Carlton then offers Will some heartfelt advice: it’s okay not to have all the answers, because nobody truly does. He assures Will that he’ll make mistakes, and that’s part of being human – he’ll learn and grow through it all. Carlton encourages him to embrace life’s ups and downs, to laugh, and to cry. The series ends with Carlton telling Will to enjoy the journey, and confidently assuring him that everything will be okay.

Smith’s brief appearance at the very end of the show beautifully brought the series full circle, perfectly tying together the current storyline with the original ’90s sitcom it was based on.

What’s Next for Bel-Air?

Peacock’s show, Bel-Air, was a major hit, establishing the streaming service as a source of quality original programming. Critics and viewers loved it, giving it an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While the episodes released on Monday were the last ones, ending the show after its current run, there’s still a chance the characters could return in future projects.

According to Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal Entertainment, a spin-off of Bel-Air is a possibility they’re considering. Speaking with Us Weekly before the show’s finale, Katz explained that they’re aware of many potential directions for the story and are open to exploring them as the series wraps up.

Currently, there are no plans for a spin-off, so fans will have to wait to see if NBCUniversal decides to continue the story. All four seasons and 38 episodes of Bel-Air are now streaming on Peacock. You can find the original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on Hulu and Disney+.
