New information about the upcoming Peaky Blinders TV show continuation has been released, and it includes a significant change in the cast.
The BBC has announced that Jamie Bell, known for his role in the film Billy Elliot, will be joining the cast as Erasmus “Duke” Shelby, the eldest son and heir of Tommy Shelby, in the upcoming series set in the 1950s.
Okay, so this is a bit confusing! The character was originally played by Conrad Khan – you might recognize him as a BAFTA Rising Star – in the final season of Peaky Blinders. But then, when they made the film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, they decided to go with Barry Keoghan – who’s been getting a ton of buzz, and even an Oscar nomination for Saltburn – to take on the same role. It’s interesting to see how they shifted things up with the casting!
I’m really excited to see what happens next! Since the show is jumping forward ten years, we’ll get to see an older Duke take the reins and lead the Peaky Blinders into a brand new chapter after everything that happened with Tommy.
The latest season of Peaky Blinders is set a decade after World War II, and focuses on the fierce competition to rebuild Birmingham – a struggle that quickly becomes incredibly intense and almost legendary.
This city offers incredible opportunities, but also faces serious dangers. At the center of it all is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell)—he’s older now, more experienced, more driven, and definitely more of a threat.

However, Bell isn’t the only new cast member who has been confirmed for the series.
Charlie Heaton, known for his roles in Stranger Things and Industry, will be a main cast member in the new show. The series has already been renewed for two seasons, each with six episodes.
The cast also includes Jessica Brown Findlay, known for her roles in Downton Abbey and Silo, along with Lashana Lynch, who starred in No Time To Die and a Marvel film, and Lucy Karczewski from Stereophonic. Details about the characters they’ll be playing haven’t been released yet.

Steven Knight, the creator and writer of Peaky Blinders, has announced the show will continue with a new story set in Birmingham in the early 1950s, after the war. He expressed his excitement about this new chapter.
We’re thrilled to have Jamie Bell join the cast as Duke Shelby, Tommy Shelby’s eldest son, alongside Charlie Heaton, who will also be a lead. Expect more cast announcements soon, as Peaky Blinders is back in production.
Filming for the series is currently underway in Birmingham. It will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Netflix everywhere else.
