Perez Hilton Undergoes Emergency Surgery for “Massive” Blood Clot

Perez Hilton is still fighting his way back to good health.

Only a week after revealing he’d been hospitalized for 21 days with sepsis, the blogger shared that he was back in the hospital in Las Vegas, needing urgent surgery.

Perez shared in an Instagram video on April 2nd that they were incredibly happy and thankful, calling the situation a blessing. They explained that they caught a health issue early on. Perez had visited their surgeon and recounted that they began experiencing leg pain the previous night, which worsened significantly overnight. By morning, the pain was so severe they couldn’t walk and had to use a walker.

Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., 48, said his doctor sent him back to the hospital for an ultrasound to check for a blood clot.

“Yes, I do,” he said. “I have a blood clot in my leg. I’m really grateful we found it quickly, because if it had traveled to my lungs or heart, it could have been very serious.”

I’m really worried about Perez. He just told me he’s having an emergency thrombectomy tomorrow. Basically, they need to put him under anesthesia and remove a huge blood clot – he said it’s completely blocking a vein, starting in his groin and going almost all the way down to his foot, covering about three-quarters of his calf. It sounds incredibly serious, and I’m sending all my best wishes for a successful surgery.

The father of three children – Mario, 13, Mia, 10, and Mayte, 8 – was still thankful for the hospital staff, including those who cared for him during his recent three-week hospital stay.

“Just got out of surgery and everything went so well!!” he wrote. “Good Friday indeed!”

He expressed optimism, saying they caught the issue early and he has full confidence in the excellent medical team at Southern Hills to handle it easily, while also attributing his hope to his faith.

The next day, Perez shared a video update saying his surgery had gone well and according to plan.

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during an elbow strike from wrestler Piper Niven in a match that took place in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitment, she’d return to address the problem and make everything look its best, because she anticipated future needs and wanted to be prepared. She didn’t want the situation to remain in its current state.

Lupita Nyong’o received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the womb – in 2014, the year she won an Academy Award for her acting.

Looking back, it wasn’t until 2025 that I finally felt comfortable sharing what I’d been going through. I wrote on Instagram about how I’d been privately struggling with this for over ten years, and it was a huge relief to finally open up.

She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happens when there’s a gap in the abdominal or groin muscles, and in her case, it was caused by wearing very tight pants.

She messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You haven’t tweeted in a while!” Then, jokingly, she added, “I’ve been meaning to tell you… I think those super-tight pants I wore six months ago gave me a hernia, and I’ve been too afraid to say anything.”

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to repair a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to it.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder for Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just before she collapsed. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a cement truck accident he had at age 11 continue to cause him problems even now.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a strange tingling sensation that reached his knees, saying it was “crazy.” On his Trading Secrets podcast in March 2025, he explained that just a few weeks prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Now, he can’t even do a squat or stand on one foot without falling, comparing the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually been sick with food poisoning, but was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone else at a party. They fired a weapon unsafely, and she was hit five times, with one bullet narrowly missing her right eye. Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, evaluating her injuries and immediately taking her to the hospital.

According to the former Kim Possible star, a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they will continue to monitor her vision, which is currently normal.

As a huge fan, hearing her speak really touched me. She shared how incredibly thankful she is just to be alive. She talked about how much her daughters, husband, family, and friends mean to her, and it was so heartfelt. She said she literally saw her whole life pass before her eyes, and it made me realize how important it is to cherish the people we love and hug them whenever we can, because things can change so quickly.

While the internet isn’t always a kind place, Amy Schumer is happy that, in this case, it helped her get answers.

“The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press, and I was like, ‘OK everybody, relax,'” Amy recalled of her “puffier” face on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors were chiming in in the comments and they were like, ‘No no, we think something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy that we think something’s up. And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?’”

After these doctors said they thought she had Cushing syndrome and that it may be caused by spiking coritsol levels or steroid injections, the Life & Beth creator thought, “Wait, I have been getting steroid injections in my scars.”

“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, whatever, and so I was getting these steroid injections,” Amy said. “So it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard.”

Toda, Amy is just relieved she’s OK. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Finding out I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I’m healthy was the greatest news imaginable.”

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially struggling to respond when Justin asked if she was alright. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.

Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, Hailey went to the hospital for evaluation. Tests revealed she had suffered a small blood clot in her brain, which doctors diagnosed as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further testing at UCLA discovered Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled to her brain through this hole, causing the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually subsided. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that the situation had been frightening but he was going to be okay.

As a huge fan, I was so worried when Jamie Foxx had to be hospitalized back in April 2023, and he kept things pretty quiet for a while. He finally shared what happened in his recent Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, and it was incredibly moving. He described having a terrible headache one day while in Atlanta and asking for an aspirin, but then he just… went out. He literally doesn’t remember the next twenty days!

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but thankfully his sister, Deidra Dixon, knew something wasn’t right and took him to the hospital. That’s where they discovered he’d had a brain bleed, which led to a stroke.

Twenty days after surgery, he woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago to work on his recovery through rehab and therapy. It was a long road, but he’s incredibly grateful for all the support he received. He said, and I completely believe him, that he appreciated every single prayer because he needed them all to get through it.

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. Afterwards, she experienced a bright light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache during a workout, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure failed, leading to a major bleed and a critical situation. Doctors had to perform an incredibly risky operation, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia reports that she has now made a full recovery and is back to 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how thankful she is for her family’s support after a health scare. In January 2024, Cori suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, sending a text and a picture to let them know what happened. She told TopMob News that everyone quickly came to her aid.

Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. In addition to recovering from the stroke, she was also dealing with lupus and kidney problems.

Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said, explaining that she’s been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

Oh my gosh, learning about what Shailene Woodley went through in her early twenties just breaks my heart, but it also makes me admire her even more! She was seriously struggling with her health – she actually lost hearing and couldn’t even walk for more than five minutes without needing to sleep for hours. Everything she ate caused her pain! It was so confusing because doctors couldn’t quite figure it out. Being the incredible person she is, she took things into her own hands. She’s always been into holistic health and herbalism, so she worked with both traditional doctors and independent healers, trying to find some peace. It wasn’t a quick fix, either – it took ten years of searching! She said all that physical discomfort led to so much anxiety, being afraid of food, and a real battle with body image and figuring out who she was. Can you imagine?! But she’s finally in a good place now! She said the issues eventually resolved themselves and she’s so healthy and happy, and honestly, that makes me so incredibly relieved and proud of her. It just shows her strength and dedication to healing, and I’m just so glad she shared her story.
