New updates have emerged on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced on February 10th that they have taken a person into custody for questioning regarding the search for Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother.
Pima County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a person near Tucson earlier today and are questioning them about the Nancy Guthrie case, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Nancy was first reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1st. A recently released doorbell camera video from the night she disappeared, made public on February 10th, provided investigators with a new clue.
FBI director Kash Patel stated that the video footage suggested there could be people they need to investigate who were near the location of the incident.
We’ve seen significant progress in the last day and a half, largely due to the FBI’s technical skills and our strong partnerships,” he told Sean Hannity on Fox News on February 10, according to MS NOW. “We are currently focusing on several people we consider persons of interest.
Patel explained that in any investigation, a person of interest will eventually be either cleared of suspicion or identified as being involved in the crime. They are currently at that critical stage in the investigation.
The FBI told TopMob News they couldn’t provide any details about the detention, stating it’s part of an active investigation.
The investigation gained momentum on February 10th with the release of the first surveillance images. These photos, taken from a camera on Nancy’s property, show a person approaching her front door wearing a mask and backpack. The individual then punched the camera.
As authorities previously reported, the front door camera was broken when the police arrived.

As a dedicated follower of this case, I’ve been following the efforts to recover footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home. For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with tech companies to try and retrieve any lost, damaged, or hidden images and videos – especially since some recording devices were removed. I’m relieved to hear they’ve actually found the video! Apparently, it wasn’t gone, just hidden as leftover data in the systems behind the scenes.
Okay, so I just read the latest update, and I’m losing it! They’re saying that the police, working with everyone involved, finally got their hands on NEW images! Apparently, they show someone – armed, can you believe it?! – messing with Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera the morning she vanished. It’s like, they couldn’t see this stuff before, but NOW they can! It’s terrifying, but it feels like we’re finally getting somewhere with finding out what happened to her. I’m glued to every detail, honestly.

According to MS NOW, over a dozen law enforcement officers from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, FBI, and Border Patrol visited Annie’s neighborhood later that day. They went door-to-door speaking with residents, and also talked to people they encountered on the street while searching nearby bushes and trees.
Investigators had already searched the home of Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthrie, on February 7th. They told Today that this was a routine step in the investigation.
Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, along with her sister Annie and brother Camron, are still asking for public support as they navigate a challenging personal situation.
Okay, so I’m totally freaking out, but I just watched her Instagram video and she basically begged everyone – everyone – to help. She’s 54, and she looked so serious. She didn’t just ask for prayers, which of course we’re all sending, but she wants us to be her eyes and ears everywhere. She said if you see anything weird, hear anything unusual, anything at all that seems off, even if you’re miles and miles away from Tucson, you HAVE to tell the police. I’m already checking everything around me! It’s like she really needs our help, and honestly, I’ll do anything for her.

Savannah, along with her siblings Annie and Camron Guthrie, are still reaching out to the public for support as they navigate this challenging period.
In a video posted on February 9th, the 54-year-old asked for more than just prayers. They requested that anyone, even those outside of Tucson, report anything unusual they see or hear to the police.
Savannah has responded to reports about a ransom note, stating they attempted to contact the people who claimed to have kidnapped someone. In a video posted to Instagram on February 7th, she said, “We received your message and we understand.”
I just… I need her back. We all do! We’re desperate to have Mom home so we can finally celebrate everything with her, it’s the only thing that will make us feel whole again. Please, just bring her back to us. We’ll do anything – we’re prepared to pay whatever it takes, honestly, anything at all. It means the world to us, you have no idea.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to police.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend noticed she hadn’t attended church that morning and let her family know, prompting a search of her property. After searching for about an hour, the family contacted authorities around noon to report her missing.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are very troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was different because of what officers described finding and what we actually discovered at the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when someone dies, when we have a body to investigate. In this case, we sent them based solely on what the surveyors reported.”

After looking into what happened, officials said they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.
As a lifestyle and community safety expert, I can share that after a thorough investigation of the scene, we’ve confirmed it is, in fact, a crime scene. We’re really reaching out to the community for their help – this area has always been incredible at coming together to solve difficult cases, and I’m hopeful they’ll do so again now. Any information, no matter how small it seems, could be crucial.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble getting around – she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own – which led him to suspect she didn’t disappear voluntarily.
I just know she didn’t just walk away. It doesn’t make sense! The investigators said there’s stuff at the place where she disappeared, things that prove she didn’t leave by herself. It’s like they’re finally seeing what I’ve known all along – something happened to her, she was taken!

As we all follow the news about Nancy, I want to stress something really important: she absolutely needs to take daily medication to stay healthy, and right now, she doesn’t have access to it. That’s a huge concern, and something we all need to keep in mind as the search goes on.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health problems and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this case – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has had some health issues, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp.
I’ve been following Nancy Guthrie’s case closely, and Dr. Nanos has made it very clear: Nancy is completely mentally sound. This isn’t about dementia or any cognitive decline; she’s incredibly sharp. The family wants everyone to understand she didn’t simply wander off confused. Her limitations are just those that come with age, and that’s what they’re focusing on.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she told NBC’s morning show on February 2nd. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support publicly.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she and Nancy are close, saying, “I know her personally.”
She continued, saying they were thinking of Savannah and her family and sending their prayers to everyone affected.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show truly showcased the community at its finest when it asked viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the relevant phone number, stating she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set, and simply posted a red heart and praying hands emoji with it on February 2nd.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m following the news about Nancy’s case closely. The authorities have secured her Arizona home as a crime scene, but thankfully, they’ve assured the public that there’s no reason to believe anyone is currently at risk. It’s a relief to hear that, even with an ongoing investigation, they don’t believe there’s a threat to the wider community.
In a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s safe.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. She has a security team that has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out yet.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, investigators now think the woman was likely taken from her home against her will, potentially while she was sleeping. They are currently investigating the case as a possible kidnapping.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing about the power of prayer, the strength of unity, and a belief in love, hope, goodness, and humanity – and most importantly, in God.
Savannah continued, expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers for her mother, Nancy, whom she described as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person. She asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength to Nancy right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.’ She believed this message held timeless wisdom for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re looking for, he told NBC News in a report on Today on February 3rd.
At a press conference held two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained at a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have a paid subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
As a lifestyle expert focused on safety and well-being, I’ve been following this case closely. What we know is that Nancy’s pacemaker app actually showed a connection issue with her phone at 2:28 AM. Then, later that morning, around 11:56 AM, her family found she was missing. They immediately contacted 911, and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was alerted just three minutes later, at 12:03 PM. It’s a chilling reminder of how important it is to stay connected and aware of our loved ones’ well-being, especially those relying on medical devices.
About ten minutes after that, he explained that when their patrol teams arrive at the scene, they immediately begin responding with both search-and-rescue and detective units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they wrote to their mother and the people who might be holding her, asking them to bring Nancy home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the prevalence of manipulated media and stated their urgent need for verifiable proof that their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are addressing.
She explained, “My mom is the center of our world, our safe place. Her health is really delicate, and she’s in pain all the time. Right now, she doesn’t have any medication, and she desperately needs it just to get by and ease her suffering.”
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we need to establish a way to communicate so we can start resolving this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake text messages as part of an attempt to profit from the situation—authorities described him as an imposter. They are also taking a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ very seriously. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona property as a routine step in the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting they had received what they’d asked for.
Speaking while holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said, “We got your message and we understand. Please, bring our mother back so we can celebrate with her – that’s the only thing that will bring us peace.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The person then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images or videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort included recovering data after recording devices were removed. They were able to retrieve the video from data still stored in the system’s background processes, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
