Pete Davidson is ready to give fatherhood all he’s got.
Former Saturday Night Live cast member, who is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, unexpectedly returned to the show on November 8th. During his appearance, he playfully shared how preparing to become a father is already changing his life.
On Weekend Update, Pete Davidson chatted with Colin Jost about a New York Times article covering the old Staten Island Ferry they bought together in 2022. Pete did confess he hadn’t actually read the article himself.
Pete explained to the audience that he took a job performing in Saudi Arabia because the ferry he owns is losing a lot of money. He added that he saw an article about it, but didn’t want to pay to read it online since he’s expecting a baby and needs to save money.
The 31-year-old, who last hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023, joked that the feeling of becoming a parent was similar to his eight years on the show—though he implied the comparison wasn’t exactly positive.
He shared his excitement about becoming a father, adding that he’ll dedicate himself to his child with a passion he never felt for the television show.
The comment seemed to be lighthearted, as Pete has often acknowledged the show and its creator, Lorne Michaels, for helping launch his career.
He told People magazine that he’s incredibly dedicated to Lorne and really enjoyed hosting previously. He considers getting asked to host again to be a true honor.
I truly owe everything to that man. He was the one who got things moving for me, really kickstarted my whole journey. Because of that, I’d do absolutely anything for Lorne – and he understands that completely. I’m eternally grateful to him.
Right now, I’m really just concentrating on preparing to be the best dad I can be. With a baby on the way, that’s my main focus – soaking up these last moments and getting ready for all the joys of parenthood!
He told TopMob News in July that he felt incredibly fortunate and happy. He explained his approach as simply giving others the things he lacked or disliked growing up, and making sure not to repeat negative experiences.

Elsie and Pete announced they are expecting a baby just four months after going public with their relationship. Elsie jokingly revealed the news in July 2025, saying, “Well, now everyone knows we had sex.”
Elsie posted a video showing her and Pete watching the ultrasound screen during their appointment to see the baby.
The couple were enjoying each other’s company as they cozied up on the stairs.

Elsie and Pete went to the 13th Annual Blossom Ball, a fundraiser to support research into Endometriosis. Elsie, who describes herself as someone battling Endometriosis, shared details about her treatments on social media.
After surgery, she shared in a TikTok video from December 2024 that she was experiencing increasing pain. She explained that this pain had caused her to miss out on work opportunities, and she worried about the risk of needing emergency care while on set. She’s currently looking for solutions to manage the situation.
While relaxing in a boat on the lake, the actor from Bupkis spontaneously kissed Elsie on the cheek.
While Elsie was getting her makeup done for a Pat McGrath Labs red carpet event in May, Pete showed his support and affection with a quick kiss, even amidst the busy atmosphere.
The couple was feeling the good vibes as they posed for a quick snap.
In April 2025, Elsie and Pete enjoyed a walk through midtown Manhattan, taking in the energy and atmosphere of New York City.
For their Memorial Day celebration, Elsie and Pete sampled different kinds of chips, like Pringles and Cape Cod Chips.
