Peter Dinklage’s First TV Role in 6 Years Completely Flips His Game of Thrones Character

Scrolling through the cast list for an HBO show might require some lengthy scrolling to find less familiar names. This network is known for its high-quality productions that spare no expense, as evident in shows like “The Last of Us” featuring stars such as Jeffrey Wright, Catherine O’Hara, and Nick Offerman, even for smaller roles. However, the video game adaptation doesn’t compare to the epic fantasy series “Game of Thrones“. In “Game of Thrones”, notable actors like Sean Bean often face unfortunate fates early on, such as Ned Stark being killed off at the end of the first season. The show is filled with Emmy-worthy performances, but one actor truly shines: Peter Dinklage.

In George R. R. Martin’s world, Tyrion Lannister, portrayed by Dinklage, belongs to the most ruthless family, the Lannisters. These characters are known for their selfishness and disregard for others as they seize power without remorse. However, compared to his kin, Tyrion shows a hint of moral compass. Regarding Dinklage’s recent TV role, he appears to embody Cersei Lannister more than Tyrion, demonstrating a less sympathetic and more ruthless character.

Game of Thrones‘ Tyrion Lannister Has a Heart

Given his tumultuous upbringing – being born during his mother’s death and facing constant rejection from most of his family, especially his father Tywin Lannister and sister Cersei – it’s challenging to label Tyrion as a villain. They harbor such intense animosity towards him that they’ve tried to kill him, and one such attempt ended in a dramatic failure. Yet, through all this hatred, Tyrion remains devoted to his family, until they conspire to falsely accuse him of Joffrey Baratheon’s murder. This betrayal pushes Tyrion over the edge, leading him to align himself with Daenerys Targaryen, who intends to usurp Cersei and seize control of Westeros.

Tyrion Lannister strongly supports Daenerys, believing she’s their savior. However, things take a turn as Daenerys starts acting unstable, leading to innocent lives being lost. Unable to bear this, Tyrion advises Jon Snow to end Daenerys’ life. Despite his repeated attempts at doing what’s best for the realm, Tyrion’s character in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’, named Leon Prater, seems more focused on personal matters.

Leon Prater Is the Worst of the Worst in the Dexter Universe

The world where Dexter operates isn’t as violent as Westeros, but it certainly has its share of violence. During the first three seasons, the title character encounters numerous wicked individuals who aim to harm innocent people. Dexter considers himself a sort of vigilante, taking these villains out of commission. For some time, he manages to keep his murderous pursuits hidden. However, when he’s eventually uncovered, he goes into hiding, leading him to New York City in Resurrection. It’s later discovered that a wealthy man named Leon Prater is gathering serial killers for discussions, which intrigues Dexter. Unfortunately, Prater turns out to be more dangerous than he appears.

Instead of simply being a fanatic eager to delve deeper into the motives of killers, Leon encourages others to venture beyond their usual limits. To him, this whole situation is like a twisted game, and instead of directly participating, he hires dangerous individuals to carry out his tasks. Unlike Tyrion who appreciates backup, he tends to go solo when things get tough. Luckily for those involved, Dexter will ensure that Leon faces the consequences of his actions.
