Kinetic Games has announced the 2026 roadmap for cooperative psychological horror game Phasmophobia.
Kinetic Games CEO Daniel Knight announced that this year will be significant for Phasmophobia, with the 1.0 launch being a major milestone since the game’s initial release. The team is dedicated to creating a deeply immersive experience for players, and updates like Chronicle and the upcoming Player Character update are all part of achieving that goal. They hope the 1.0 launch will feel as innovative and thrilling as the original 2020 release.
Here are the details:
Next year will see some big improvements to the game, starting with a character update in early 2026. Players will be able to customize their ghost hunter with free cosmetic items, and we’re adding new character models and smoother animations. This includes features like quickly switching equipment, using higher-level sanity medication, and updated animations for when characters die and are revived.
Get ready for a major update to the game! This year’s launch of version 1.0 will bring a wave of new ghosts and scares to all platforms at the same time. It’s set to be the biggest update yet, and includes all the features previously planned for the ‘Horror 2.0’ update, plus even more surprises.
The popular horror game, which launched successfully on PlayStation and Xbox in 2024, is also coming to the new Nintendo Switch 2. Players can also expect a gameplay update – including improvements powered by Unity 6 and network enhancements – across all platforms for a better experience.
The game will also receive updates to two maps: Tanglewood and 13 Willow Street. Tanglewood will largely maintain its current layout, but will include new interactive elements and minor adjustments. Players can also investigate a hidden mystery at 6 Tanglewood Drive.
And that’s not all the fun! They’ve got a bunch of awesome surprises planned. A brand new map is coming, and there’s a special, limited-time event too. Plus, I’m so excited they’re bringing back some of my favorite seasonal events – Cursed Hollow, Crimson Eye, and Winter’s Jest are all returning this year!
I’m really excited to be playing Phasmophobia right now! It’s still in early access, but it’s available on PlayStation 5 with PSVR2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. I’m having a blast ghost hunting!
