Kinetic Games has launched this year’s Crimson Eye event for the popular co-op horror game, *Phasmophobia*. Running from today until October 31st, the event introduces new challenges that players must complete together as a team. Successfully finishing these tasks will earn players exclusive in-game rewards. You can watch the trailer for Crimson Eye 2025 below.
During this year’s Crimson Eye event, some levels will experience the Blood Moon weather effect. This makes the levels more difficult, with enemies appearing faster and your sanity decreasing more quickly. But, completing these harder levels will also reward you with better prizes.
During this year’s Crimson Eye event, the Blood Moon will definitely appear on these maps: 6 Tanglewood Drive, Camp Woodwind, Grafton Farmhouse, Bleasdale Farmhouse, Point Hope, 42 Edgefield Road, and 13 Willow Street. Each day, four of these locations will be chosen to have Blood Moon weather. While Blood Moon can happen on other maps in the game, it will only occur randomly.
When Blood Moon is active during missions, players will earn 10% more rewards. Plus, the Crimson Eye event is ending soon with rewards for all Phasmophobia players if the community and individual goals are met. These rewards include a special in-game trophy, an ID Card, and a matching Badge.
In August, Phasmophobia‘s art director, Corey J. Dixon, discussed the game’s ongoing Early Access development and when the full 1.0 version might launch. He explained that the 1.0 update will probably arrive around the same time as the planned Horror 2.0 update, which is still being worked on. This suggests a release timeframe sometime in 2026.
According to Dixon, they’re aiming for the 1.0 release around the time of their Horror 2.0 update, when they believe the game will have all its core features. This doesn’t mean development will stop – they still plan to add reworked and new maps in the future. However, they feel that after completing the Horror 2.0 update – which is their priority after the Player Update planned for 2025 – the game will feel complete and be in a solid state.
Dixon mentioned that Kinetic Games really values player feedback, particularly regarding new features. While the team enjoys developing these additions, it makes it challenging to determine when *Phasmophobia* will be finished.
It’s hard to say when the project will be finished,” he said. “Our community is always suggesting new features, which is great – we’ll keep incorporating them as we go. We want to keep working on it until we’re truly satisfied with the result. We haven’t set a specific completion date or promised a final update. Instead, we’ll just *feel* when it’s done – when everyone at the company agrees we’ve made it the best it can be. That’s what Dan Knight, the creator, envisioned from the start. We’ll recognize that moment when we reach it, but we can’t really plan for it in advance.”
You can play *Phasmophobia* on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. If you’re on PC or PS5, you can also use a VR headset for a more immersive, cooperative horror experience.
