Do you enjoy playing a rebellious pensioner?

Upon reading the part where Ron swam with the women, my thoughts were, “This should be pleasant. I understand the humor. This is enjoyable.” However, when I arrived on set, I found myself dressed in a dressing gown and goofy shorts, expecting to see attractive ladies in bikinis. Instead, I was surrounded by a dozen elderly women, with me being the older man attempting to put on a show. They provided me with a floatie. I thought, “Alright, let’s do this. I’ll dive into the pool and play the fool.” Each day was a delight because of the excellent writing. Every scene was like a precious gem.

What kind of pensioner are you?

Upon stepping onto the set, I found everyone sporting silver hair, resembling tiny cotton swabs. My initial thought was something along the lines of, “Oh dear!” However, despite not seeing myself as an elderly individual, I am indeed an older man, and there’s a certain pleasure in that realization. As time progresses, we experience more freedom because mortality is ever-present. This tale carries a beautiful rhythm to it. The four characters strive to maintain mental agility while also grappling with the inevitable fate of death for us all. All this unfolds within a mystery of who committed the crime.

Do you worry about getting older, about dying?

I’m looking forward to finding the strength needed when the time comes, and I appreciate each day as it comes. The past, present, and future are all there is. However, I believe the timing for turning these books into movies is ideal. There’s a vast amount of wisdom in our elderly population that often goes unnoticed.
