Pierce Brosnan, Son Christopher Reunite After Estrangement

Pierce Brosnan marked a special family reunion.

Actor Pierce Brosnan, known for his role in Mamma Mia, was spotted enjoying a meal with his sons in London on November 5th. He dined with Christopher, 52, and Dylan, 28, at the Dorian restaurant in Notting Hill.

Christopher, who hasn’t been seen much lately, was photographed leaving a restaurant wearing a brown trench coat, dark jeans, and sunglasses. He was with Pierce, age 72, and Dylan, both of whom were wearing matching black coats and pants.

This was the first time Pierce, who shares children Dylan and Paris (24) with his wife Keely Shaye Smith, had been seen with Christopher in more than twenty years. The two had been estranged for years.

Pierce adopted Cassandra Harris’s children, Christopher and Charlotte, from her previous marriage to Dermont Harris. Sadly, Charlotte passed away in 2013. Pierce and Cassandra also had a son together, Sean, who is now 42. Cassandra died in 1991.

Pierce shared that he had distanced himself from his son, Christopher, after learning about Christopher’s struggles with substance abuse.

Halle Berry explained to Playboy in 2005, as reported by Page Six, that you can’t entirely remove someone from your life. However, she had to tell her ex, Christopher, to focus on improving his life or accept the consequences. She added that she is praying for him.

He continued, saying Christopher is still deeply troubled and, frankly, it’s quite concerning. While I know his location, he’s really struggling, and I’m holding onto hope that he’ll get better. He’s put everyone in the family through a lot, but especially himself. He understands what he needs to do to improve things, but he seems unwilling to take those steps.

Even though Christopher wasn’t present, Pierce often thought of him during happy occasions. For example, in 2022, his dad publicly acknowledged him on Father’s Day.

Pierce shared a Father’s Day message on Instagram with a photo of his sons, Paris, Dylan, and Sean, expressing his lasting love for them and thanking them for their love in return. He also sent his love to his son Christopher.

After the Backstreet Boys member relapsed in 2021, he noted he “got sober again for the last time.”

He told People magazine in July 2025 that he’s committed to staying on his current path. He described it as a daily effort, but shared that following advice from the recovery community has dramatically improved his life.

While AJ acknowledged he is “still learning, still growing,” he’s now confident in who he is.

I’ve been learning to set healthy boundaries, which is something I never did before. It’s really helped me. I also understand now that ‘AJ’ is just a public persona – it’s not the whole picture of who I am. My real name is Alexander James, and that’s who I truly am.

In October 2018, the actor known for American Pie shared on Instagram that he had been sober for one year, marking the occasion with a positive and inspiring message.

He started trying to get sober more than five years ago, realizing his addiction to alcohol and drugs had become overwhelming. He quickly discovered it wasn’t an easy process.

He shared that after a difficult journey, he’s been sober for a year, and he’s incredibly proud of this accomplishment. He encouraged anyone who is struggling with addiction to seek help, emphasizing that there’s no shame in asking and that recovery is possible.

Looking back on his battle with addiction, he thought about how far he’d gone to keep it a secret.

He shared on his wife Jenny Mollen’s podcast, All the Fails, that he was in therapy but still struggled with drinking. He described a cycle where he’d leave a productive therapy session and immediately go buy a bottle of vodka, drink it, and then drive home. He admitted he used alcohol to escape his feelings and disconnect from his life and the present moment.

He explained that he’d carefully planned how much to drink, making sure he stayed coherent enough to talk. He mentioned he was constantly swapping out the bottles at the bar to control his alcohol intake.

The two-time World Cup-winning soccer player has publicly discussed using Adderall inappropriately when she was in college and recovering from injuries.

She shared on the 2025 podcast Question Everything with Danielle Robay that she had become seriously addicted to Adderall and was using it improperly. She explained she was taking it constantly, often going days without sleep. It was a chaotic time, and she felt she was pushing her body to the limit, even fearing a heart attack. She admitted to crushing and snorting the pills, describing her behavior as deeply problematic.

However, in the midst of her struggle, her college coach Anson Dorrance was there to support her.

Things got incredibly tough, and I really had to change how I was dealing with everything. Anson suggested I start reading, and I picked up Man’s Search for Meaning. It’s a book about finding purpose even in the midst of suffering, and honestly, it completely transformed my perspective on life. It’s a book I recommend to everyone now – it really helped me reframe things and find strength when I needed it most.

In October 2025, Migos member Quavo revealed he had been sober from codeine—an opioid often mixed with soda to create the drink known as sizzurp—for four years. He credited a serious conversation with his teenage son, Jordan, as the turning point that led him to get clean.

Offset shared a story on the show Baby, This Is Keke Palmer about his son repeatedly asking for pineapple Fanta, even though he rarely drinks soda. What really struck Offset was when his son noticed the color of his Fanta was different and asked why, which he found incredibly touching.

Offset explained that the seemingly harmless comment really upset him, adding, “I almost cried when I went to my room.”

I felt like I was failing as a father,” the rapper explained. “He doesn’t realize these substances are here, and even something as simple as him asking for the same drink as me makes me worry. I’m afraid I’m setting a bad example for him.”

The Valley star shared his decades-long battle with drugs in March 2025 after going to rehab.

Jax revealed on the March 4th episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast that he’s struggling with addiction, specifically with cocaine. He admitted it was difficult to share this information publicly.

He explained that he’s struggled with this issue intermittently since he was 23, and now, at 45, it continues to come and go. Sometimes he’d stop, and other times he’d engage with it intensely.

Oh my gosh, Jax is just… amazing! He actually stopped! He said it wasn’t necessarily that he had a problem with alcohol, but he knew he couldn’t do, well, the other stuff without it, so he just quit everything! Can you believe it? He told everyone he’s been sober for 82, 83 days now – the longest he’s ever gone without either! I’m so incredibly proud of him, seriously! It’s just… wow.

Tom Holland, known for his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, quit drinking in 2022 because he felt controlled by alcohol. He admitted on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast that he was addicted and believes that having a daily beer could indicate a problem.

The actor explained that you eventually reach a point where you regret having that extra drink. This usually results in a bad headache the next morning.

After adopting a healthier lifestyle, Holland found that he slept more soundly and was better equipped to deal with challenges.

He explained that he was much calmer and more able to handle problems on set. He felt mentally clear, healthier, and in better physical shape.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve noticed Sean Connery, the iconic star of Hunt for Red October, is a very private person. He rarely discusses his personal life, and that includes his journey with sobriety, which began nearly forty years ago. It’s admirable how he maintains that privacy while still being such a public figure.

Okay, so he rarely talks about it, which makes the times he does even more precious! He mentioned it on a podcast in May, and honestly, I almost fell out of my chair. He shared his sobriety date – February 23rd, 1985 – and it’s just… incredible. Thirty-nine years! It’s so inspiring to know he’s been fighting this battle for so long, and he’s still here, still creating. I just… I can’t even express how much respect I have for him.

Alec described a difficult period after relocating from New York to Los Angeles in 1983, admitting to a severe cocaine addiction. He said he used an enormous amount of the drug for two years, comparing its prevalence at the time to that of coffee – many people were using it constantly throughout the day.

And after quitting the drug, he soon turned to alcohol—only to also quit that dependency.

Today, he relies on the city around him.

He said New York City feels like home and helps him relax. He loves walking around and discovering new details he’s never seen before – like noticing something new about a familiar building. He also enjoys spending time with friends over lunch or coffee.

In April 2024, Anne Hathaway, known for her role in The Princess Diaries, revealed she’s been sober for over five years. She told The New York Times that reaching this point feels like a significant achievement.

She explained her decision simply. “I realized it wasn’t the right path for me,” she said. “It felt drastic to have to completely decline, but I had to be firm. It’s like an allergy – if you have a severe reaction, you don’t try to fight it. I finally accepted that and stopped questioning it.”

Honestly, I’m so glad she chose to do that! She explained it perfectly – everything just is better for her because of it. She described it as something that used to really drag her down, and she really doesn’t want to feel that way anymore. It’s amazing to see how much happier she is now.

While receiving the 2018 Woman of the Year Award from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House—a program helping women recover from substance and alcohol abuse—Moore discussed how a damaging lifestyle almost ended her career.

I believe we all have key moments that define us and set our life’s course. Early in my career, I was heading down a very destructive path. Despite any success I achieved, I constantly felt inadequate and had little self-worth. This quickly led to a major crisis, and at the time, I didn’t understand why it was happening – it almost felt like something bigger was at play.

Moore, who received treatment in 2012, expressed gratitude to two people she hardly knew for giving her a much-needed wake-up call. She joked that they essentially told her to get her life together or face the consequences, saying, “Unless I was dead, I better show up.” She explained that they gave her an opportunity to change her path before she ruined everything.

Moore reflected that others recognized her potential before she did herself. She expressed deep gratitude for their belief in her, saying she wouldn’t be where she was today without it.

Miley Cyrus revealed in 2022 that she’s been overcoming an addiction to Xanax since 2020. She told Rolling Stone that recovery provided much-needed stability during a difficult time. “It gave me something to focus on and kept me from spiraling,” she explained, adding, “It really gave me hope for the future.”

The singer explained that once they discovered a way to temporarily block out feelings and escape the pain, they were finished with something – implying a turning point or the end of a difficult period.

She explained that her friends back then seemed to accept her drug use, which contributed to a downward spiral she described as a “dark, bottomless pit.” During the pandemic, however, Cyrus realized she was struggling and felt disconnected. She remembers frequently falling asleep and being unable to stay awake because of how deeply affected she was.

She eventually sought help and noted that “it took some time to get on my own two feet.”

In his 2025 documentary, Stans, Eminem opened up about his past struggles with prescription pills. He shared that an overdose and missing his daughter Hailie Jade’s birthday were turning points that led him to change his life.

He explained that he started crying because the moment felt incredibly important and he didn’t want to repeat past regrets. He described a harsh internal monologue, repeatedly asking himself if he really wanted to miss out on this experience again, and urging himself to push through, even if only for the sake of others.

Focusing on making music again played a key role in the Oscar winner’s recovery from addiction.

Okay, so he said it did something, like, actually turned a light on! And it hit me – he finally wasn’t ashamed of being sober. It was like a total switch flipped. He started talking about it like it was his superpower, something to be proud of, and that he’d actually done something amazing by quitting. It was incredible to hear him say it like that – honestly, I was tearing up! He finally owned it, and it was so powerful.

The former star of Parenthood had been sober for 16 years when they had a setback in 2020. After a motorcycle accident, they began taking Vicodin again.

He explained on his Armchair Expert podcast that he’s been taking prescription medications consistently for about the past two months. He also mentioned he’s taking more than the prescribed amount.

He went on to say he was miserable and felt he was deceiving everyone around him. He knew he needed to stop, but his tolerance was increasing so fast that he was now using eight pills a day, a dose he feared would cause severe withdrawal symptoms. He was becoming increasingly scared and isolated, burdened by a huge secret he kept hidden from others.

In 2018, the actress from Halloween openly discussed her decade-long struggle with opioid addiction, which started in the late 1980s after a small cosmetic procedure to address puffy eyes. The resulting prescription dramatically altered her life. She told People magazine, “I spent ten years stealing and deceiving people. Absolutely no one knew.”

Curtis recalls the summer of 1998 as her lowest point. Her sister arrived with prescription painkillers for a broken rib, and Curtis ended up taking them all. She confessed in a note left on her sister’s suitcase, anticipating the missing pills would be discovered before her sister left. Thankfully, her sister responded with love and concern, telling Curtis she couldn’t bear to watch her self-destruct.

Jamie Lee Curtis went to her first support group meeting on February 3, 1999, and on that same day, she told her husband, filmmaker Christopher Guest, about her struggles with substance use. She explained that he was surprised he hadn’t realized she was going through this, and she has remained sober ever since.

Drew Barrymore, who has openly struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the past, revealed in 2021 that she had reached a significant point in her recovery. Appearing on CBS Mornings, she shared that she’d been sober for two and a half years, explaining that alcohol simply wasn’t beneficial to her life anymore.

It’s amazing how freeing and nerve-wracking it feels to finally share who you are, what you believe, and everything you’ve achieved.

Drew Barrymore later told the Los Angeles Times she avoids calling herself “sober” because she doesn’t want to come across as overly strict or judgmental.

You know, I used to be so focused on getting things right, on thinking I could conquer any challenge if I just worked hard enough. I’d tell myself, ‘I’ll figure this out, I’ll master it!’ But honestly, I had a real breakthrough recently. I realized sometimes, things just aren’t meant to be ‘mastered,’ and that’s okay. Accepting that was incredibly freeing. It’s about letting go of the need to be perfect at everything.

Bradley Cooper battled a cocaine addiction in the early 2000s. His friend, Will Arnett, helped him by directly addressing his struggles and holding him accountable.

Cooper shared in a 2022 podcast interview that this was the moment he first understood he was struggling with drugs and alcohol. He said he’ll never forget that realization.

Cooper explained that Arnett’s honest and difficult conversation was the catalyst for his decision to get sober and turn his life around, calling Arnett “the reason” he was able to make that change.

The actor, known for his role in Fight Club, battled alcohol addiction for years until Bradley Cooper helped him achieve sobriety. Accepting an award from Cooper at the 2020 National Board of Review Annual Awards, he shared, “I got sober because of this guy, and my life has been better every day since.”

In September 2023, the former Cruel Intentions star revealed on Instagram that they had gone longer without using nicotine or marijuana – or any substances, really – than they had since their teenage years.

He expressed gratitude for overcoming addiction and substance dependency, saying that achieving sobriety, mental clarity, and a sense of spiritual connection feels truly rewarding.

In 2018, the singer openly celebrated six years of being sober while on tour. However, she surprised her fans later that year with the release of her song “Sober,” in which she admitted she had struggled with relapse.

Oh my god, her voice just breaks my heart! It’s like she’s confessing everything, begging for forgiveness. “Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore,” she sings, and I feel like she’s speaking directly to me. And then pleading with her dad about the spilled drinks… it’s just so raw and vulnerable. She keeps saying she’s sorry she’s not sober, and it’s like she’s been through this a million times before, and it’s just… devastating. I can’t stop listening, it’s perfect.

A month later, Lovato was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose.

She shared on Instagram a couple of weeks ago that she’s been open about her struggles with addiction. She explained that it’s an ongoing battle, not something she’s simply overcome, and that she still has work to do. She’s now taking time to heal, prioritize her sobriety, and continue her recovery. She expressed gratitude for the support she’s received and hopes to reach a point where she can say she’s fully recovered, promising to keep fighting along the way.

In 2018, she spoke about her past struggles with sex and alcohol addiction. She explained that her addictions would shift over time, and when she was younger, she believed sex could solve any problem. She also described realizing she was developing a serious issue with drinking.

She recalled a particularly low point when she was home alone and had already finished two bottles of wine, about to open a third. That’s when she realized she might have a drinking problem.

I just stopped completely. That’s something I’m able to do. I tend to get really into things, and I always need to be mindful of my habits and how easily I can become obsessed. It’s not necessarily what you do, but how and why you do it. It’s about the motivations behind your actions. For example, wanting to have a lot of sex is fine, but it’s important to understand why you want that.

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean revealed he first experimented with drugs right before filming the music video for their 2000 hit, “The Call.” He later told Good Morning America that he was feeling very out of control during the video shoot. He achieved sobriety in 2021, and within a year, experienced significant improvements in his health, including losing 32 pounds over seven months by giving up alcohol and fast food.

He told Today in September 2022 that drinking led to both weight gain and a decline in his mental well-being.

Following the unexpected death of Mac Miller, rapper Bow Wow—born Shad Moss—revealed on Twitter that he had previously battled an addiction to cough syrup, often called “lean.” He shared a candid account of his struggle, explaining that during the creation of his “FACE OFF” album with Omarion, he was using lean daily. He admitted to being under the influence during a memorable on-stage confrontation with Torae on BET, noting it significantly affected his attitude and relationships with fans and family. Despite never promoting drug use in his music, he was heavily addicted throughout the UCP tour with Chris Brown, consuming lean at least seven times a day. He recounted a frightening incident in Cincinnati where he collapsed backstage and woke up in the hospital experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

Bow Wow described the withdrawal pain as unlike anything he’d ever felt, recalling needing multiple hoodies even in summer due to feeling intensely cold. He missed shows in Chicago and Baltimore because of being high and sick, admitting he was using drugs to appear cool. He urged his fans to avoid such substances, encouraging them to be good children and strive to be their best selves, and promised to speak out more on the issue. He emphasized the importance of protecting young people and helping them avoid early deaths, asking parents to educate their children about the dangers of drugs. He shared that he almost died from his syrup use.

Bow Wow concluded by stating that he still experiences stomach problems as a result of his addiction and reaffirmed his commitment to staying drug-free. He pleaded with his fans, especially young artists, to break the cycle of drug use and prioritize their lives, emphasizing that they are loved and valued. He urged them not to follow trends that could harm them and to choose a better path.

In 2018, the singer opened up about her struggles with addiction alongside the release of her album No Shame and her memoir, My Thoughts Exactly. She revealed she had been heavily using cocaine and drinking to excess. Things came to a head when, after accidentally hitting Orlando Bloom with her head at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party and knocking herself unconscious, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin intervened to help her.

I was absolutely floored when I read her interview. She said things were just…empty. She couldn’t find anything to make her feel better, anything at all. It was heartbreaking, but she was so honest. She actually woke up one morning and seriously considered heroin, because everything else had failed her. It’s just…wow. It really shows how incredibly lost she was.

The actor best known for The Parent Trap struggled with cocaine addiction during the 1980s, leading him to seek treatment in 1990. He later shared on Today that he came of age in the 1960s and 70s, a time when attitudes toward drug use were very different.

He confessed that during the 1980s, his cocaine use was so extensive it rivaled some movie budgets. He described desperately pleading with God to help him stop, often right before work, only to find himself rationalizing his addiction just hours later, thinking things weren’t so bad.

He described a powerful experience – what he called seeing a white light – where he felt he was either dying or losing everything important in his life. He then had to explain this to his then-fiancée, Meg Ryan, and afterwards, he decided to get help. He says this marked the end of his struggle with cocaine.

Following an incident at a Newport Beach hotel where he attempted to break down his own door, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte entered treatment for alcohol addiction in 2018. According to a statement from his representative to TopMob News, Lochte had been struggling with alcohol for years, and it had become a damaging cycle. He recognized the need for professional help and began treatment immediately.

According to a recent statement, Ryan understands that overcoming this illness is crucial – not only to prevent future regrets, but also to be a good husband and father, and to have a chance at competing in his fifth Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 and reclaiming his place as a top swimmer.

Despite knowing you shouldn’t get sober for another person, actor Jason Ritter credits his relationship with Melanie Lynskey as a key factor in his decision to stop drinking.

He realized how wonderful she was and believed she deserved someone truly great. Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023, he admitted he didn’t think he was that person, feeling he was ‘a little bit too crazy’ for her.

However, as Ritter noted to TopMob News, he now sees that sobriety is ultimately a personal choice.

Looking back on the beginning of their relationship, he explained that he often justified his actions by saying he was doing them for her. He admitted he didn’t feel good about himself at the time, and he was more concerned with protecting her feelings than his own. Initially, framing things as being ‘for her’ felt easier. But now, he’s motivated by his own well-being.

The country singer has been sober for almost ten years, but achieving that took a lot of effort. His struggle with alcohol and painkillers started right after high school and continued even as his career grew. He admitted to People magazine that he always kept a black leather laptop bag nearby, filled with bottles of Jagermeister or vodka. He described needing to drink “every hour and a half to two hours,” and taking a pill or two every three to four hours.

It didn’t hinder his accomplishments at all. “I wasn’t falling apart,” he explained. “Actually, I was incredibly productive – I wrote more songs during that time than I do today, and that’s what really worried me.”

In late 2011, he was hospitalized with pancreatitis and warned that continuing to drink could be fatal. He remembered trying to cut back himself, setting daily limits like, “I’ll only take two pills today” or rationing his alcohol, marking his bottles to track his intake. While this worked for a few days, he’d often relapse when faced with social events or parties.

Gilbert finally realized he needed help and checked into rehab on December 18, 2011. He explained, “I reached a point where I knew I couldn’t overcome this alone.” He admitted it was frustrating and humiliating, especially because he considered himself a strong-minded person, but this was one thing he couldn’t control.
