PIONER, a multiplayer first-person shooter (MMOFPS) inspired by the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., recently launched into early access on Steam after a lengthy public beta test. However, initial reactions have been lukewarm, with the game receiving a “Mixed” rating based on 375 user reviews – only 48% of players have given it a positive recommendation.
The game didn’t have a very strong launch, recently reaching a peak of 1,140 players, though that number could still grow. The developer quickly released an update to address some initial problems, including long loading times and issues with character appearances on lower graphics settings. Players should also experience more reliable connections and overall server performance.
The developers also plan to release a significant update soon with fixes and improvements. They expect the game, PIONER, to be in early access for about a year while they continue to add new content, features, and refinements. Currently, players can explore five Story Acts and many different regions, offering over 100 hours of gameplay. Keep an eye out for more updates, especially as the holiday season approaches.
