Anna Camp isn’t afraid to share her truth.
Just before the one-year anniversary of publicly revealing her relationship with Jade Whipkey last May, the Pitch Perfect actress discussed her exploration of her sexuality and explained why she’s now openly identifying as bisexual.
Anna, age 43, recently shared on the I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario podcast that she’s proud to embrace her sexuality. In a clip published by People, she explained that it takes strength to be open about it, especially while facing criticism and judgment, and affirmed that she is bisexual.
The actress, who was married to Michael Mosley from 2010 to 2013 and to Skylar Austin from 2016 to 2019, shared that she’s experienced significant personal growth in her 40s and is now comfortable with that change.
Honestly, sometimes putting myself out there feels really risky, and it’s definitely scary knowing everyone’s watching. But I always come back to this: I only get one life, and I deserve to be happy. That’s what it all boils down to for me – living a life that truly makes me happy.
The actress, known for her role in How I Met Your Mother, admitted things didn’t turn out as she expected, but she’s happy with where she is now and excited for the future.
Anna explained that people often believe they have a fixed idea of who they are and how their lives will unfold. She shared that this has happened to her personally, where she felt certain about her path. But she realized she could have easily stopped growing and simply accepted things as they were, choosing not to evolve further.

It’s a sentiment that she’d previously expressed after confirming her romance with Jade.
Anna recently shared with Out Magazine that it’s never too late to become your most authentic self. She realized that removing the protective shell she’d built to cope with life’s challenges allowed her to truly live, rather than just get by. She now feels she’s finally embracing who she really is and is thriving as a result.
She shared that her biggest personal challenge this year was coming to terms with coming out in her 40s. This involved feeling both guilty for waiting so long and excited to finally live authentically, free from the expectations of society and how she was raised.

The Dance Moms alum didn’t give it a second thought when she came out in a 2021 Instagram story.
She explained to People magazine in October 2023 that she came out at 17, but didn’t realize how significant that decision was at the time. She also said she didn’t understand why it would be frightening.
She explained that while she received a lot of support and acceptance, she also faced negativity and lost some things – and people – along the way. But she doesn’t regret it. ‘I don’t care about what I lost, or who I lost, even if it meant losing fans,’ she said, ‘because being true to myself is what matters most.’

While the “Flowers” singer was never a big fan of labels, she came out as pansexual in 2016.
She shared with Variety in October 2016 that she’d spent her life unsure about her gender and sexuality. She particularly disliked the label ‘bisexual,’ feeling it was too limiting. She explained that she doesn’t focus on whether someone is male or female.
She also explained that she never saw her nipple pasties as something sexual. She said she became aware of her sexuality around the fifth or sixth grade, and her first romantic relationship was with a girl.

Telling his traditionally religious family he was gay was a turning point for Matt, beginning a new chapter in his life.
Sharing the news with his family was a major turning point, according to actor Matt Bomer, who is married to Simon Halls and has three children. He’s said he sees his life as clearly divided into ‘before’ and ‘after’ telling his parents, with the choices he made and the way he lived being completely different on either side. It was a life-changing experience.

The singer of “Good Luck, Babe!” shared that she doesn’t always feel as self-assured as she appears, and growing up in the Midwest greatly influenced that.
She explained to Rolling Stone that she used to be afraid of openly gay men because that’s how she was raised. She later realized that people often dislike them because their expressions of personality are seen as feminine, and there’s a broader societal dislike of women. It made her think, ‘Wow, that’s really messed up.’
She explained that she’s had to overcome a lot of previously held beliefs, and still struggles with confusion. This is why she sometimes feels uneasy about being gay. She admits she doesn’t understand why it’s difficult for her, acknowledging that it shouldn’t be, but she realizes she needs to accept her feelings as they are.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thrilled to hear happy news! I recently learned that a former star of The Bachelorette has found lasting love. She shared on The View that she’s happily committed to comedian Robby Hoffman, and they actually tied the knot in January 2025! It’s so wonderful to see these connections blossom into something beautiful.
She revealed in August 2023 that she’d been keeping her relationship quiet because her girlfriend is a significant part of her life and a bigger story she wanted to share.
She explained that she’d always had a quiet feeling inside, which gradually became stronger. She hadn’t recognized it at first. Dealing with the embarrassment or shame associated with it was difficult, and she had to understand where those feelings were coming from.

The actress known for her role in Mean Girls publicly came out as a lesbian in January 2024 during an appearance on Saturday Night Live, after previously identifying as bisexual. Her friends were supportive of her decision to share this with the public.
She later told Billboard that she found herself surrounded by nonbinary, transgender, and lesbian friends. Being with them made her realize, ‘I feel so happy, and I really want to identify as a lesbian when I’m with you all.’

The former late-night host officially came out as queer on the last day of Pride month in 2024.
She publicly came out as LGBTQ+ in a June 2024 Instagram post, sharing the news on the final day of Pride month. The post featured her wearing a tank top with the word ‘Queer’ on it, a move that surprised no one, she joked.
She encouraged the children, saying, ‘Love yourselves for who you are, and I certainly do!’ Then, with a touch of humor, she added, ‘I’m even looking forward to finding a new way to be judged!’

Let me tell you, as someone who’s followed a lot of public figures, it’s always fascinating to see them share their true selves. I learned recently that this former Disney Channel star actually felt really anxious about publicly coming out as queer. It takes so much courage to be authentic, and it’s a reminder that even people who seem confident can have real fears about being open with the world.
She explained to Gay Times in May 2021 that she’d subtly alluded to her sexuality for years, but was hesitant to be direct. Last year, she released a lyric video for her song ‘We Belong’ which featured animated drawings of couples falling in love. She admitted it felt strange because the video only showed a man and a woman kissing.
After the song was released, many people believed it was a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, which led to accusations that I was pretending to be part of the community for attention. I addressed this on Instagram Live, explaining that I identify as queer, and that this is a part of my identity I want to express through my music.

The “Heart Attack” singer came out as nonbinary in a 2021 Instagram post.
As a lifestyle expert, I truly believe each new day is a fresh start, a chance to become the person you’ve always dreamed of. Looking back, I’ve essentially grown up in the public eye, and you’ve all been there for it – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It’s been a personal journey, of course, but I’ve always felt a responsibility to those watching, too.
I’m excited to share an important part of my journey with you all. I’m identifying as non-binary and will be using they/them pronouns going forward. This decision comes after a lot of personal growth and self-discovery. I’m still figuring things out and don’t consider myself an expert on this, but sharing this feels like a vulnerable but necessary step.

Despite having been with singer Hayley Kiyoko since 2018, the former Bachelor contestant didn’t publicly reveal she was in a relationship with a woman until four years later. While it felt strange at first when everyone learned about it, she realized the positive effect of being open about her relationship.
She explained that the impact of her story extended far beyond her own life and relationship. Knowing it helped others feel comfortable and confident in their own love lives was more important than any personal fear she faced. She found it incredibly humbling to see how much meaning people found in something as natural as falling in love and sharing that experience, as expressed to TopMob News in June 2022.

When Troye was fifteen, he told his family he was gay. Three years later, he shared his story with the public in a YouTube video. He later explained that he decided to come out during a really important time in his life.
He explained to People magazine in February 2022 that as he was finalizing his record deal, it was important to him to control how he publicly came out. He didn’t want anyone else to dictate the process. He wanted the freedom to explore the gay scene, go to clubs, meet people, and write honest, heartfelt songs about his experiences with love.

Chrishell, who started dating the Australian singer in 2022, explained to TopMob News that genuine love means prioritizing your partner’s happiness, even if it clashes with your own views. She emphasized the importance of staying true to yourself and living life on your own terms, saying, ‘You only get one life, so live it for you.’

This TikTok creator, who is openly gay and attended an all-boys school, uses his social media to inspire others to embrace their true selves.
Chris explained to TopMob News in October 2022 that his identity is likely to be a topic of debate for some people. He sees using his platform as a way to challenge those preconceptions and make his identity seem more ordinary.
