The highly anticipated game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin—a darker, more mature version of the beloved story—is officially back in development, now being led by the talented team at PlatinumGames, known for their exciting action games.
We first learned about The Last Ronin in 2023 with a very short teaser trailer. After that, the project went quiet, and rumors of it being cancelled started circulating in 2024.
The game’s development stalled when Black Forest Games unexpectedly lost about half its staff in layoffs.
THQ Nordic was originally publishing The Last Ronin, but the partnership wasn’t successful. Eventually, Paramount Games Studios took over, and they’ve now brought PlatinumGames into the project.
It’s still very early to form a strong opinion. The announcement trailer didn’t show any actual gameplay, it was more of a quick preview. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more soon.
