
Sony announced that PlayStation consoles will cost more due to the ongoing rise in the cost of living, impacting gamers’ budgets.
Nintendo recently announced that buying physical copies of their games will cost more. Plus, subscription services have been steadily increasing in price over the past few years.
We’ve just learned directly from Sony that the price of all PS5 models – including the standard, Pro, and Digital editions – will be increasing. The PS Portal handheld will also cost more from now on.

PS5 base model
- New price: £569.99 GBP / $649.99 USD
- Old price: £479.99 / $549 USD
PS5 Pro
- New price: £789.99 GBP / $899.99 USD
- Old price: £699.99 GBP / $749 USD
PS5 Digital Edition
- New price: £519.99 GBP / $599.99 USD
- Old price: £429.99 GBP / $499 USD
PS Portal
- New price: £219.99 GBP / $249.99 USD
- Old price: £199.99 / $199 USD
These price changes will start on April 2nd, 2026. If you’re planning to purchase any of these items, it might be a good idea to buy them before then!

No one enjoys paying more for things, and this year has seen prices rise across the board. Factors like taxes on imports, the war, and a lack of computer chips are all contributing to these increases.
