Over the past five years since the PlayStation 5 hit the market, Sony has introduced various designs for the DualSense controller. We’ve seen models reminiscent of the original PS1 colors and those inspired by popular games (some of which didn’t fare so well). One standout design, however, is a DualSense model inspired by the game Astro Bot. This controller was designed to resemble Astro Bot himself and quickly became a must-have for fans of the game. It appears that an updated version of the original controller is now in development.
In this morning’s PlayStation Blog post, Team Asobi’s Nicolas Doucet unveiled a refreshed version of the DualSense controller. While it retains the same design as its predecessor, Sony’s designers have reportedly added an exciting new dimension to the touch pad. The specifics aren’t clear yet, but we’re eager to see how they’ve enhanced the original design. Unfortunately, no additional details have been disclosed as of now, but Doucet hinted that more information will be revealed soon.

From one perspective, it’s fantastic news indeed about the release of the Astro Bot DualSense controller. Apart from boasting an impressive design, it’s currently hard to find these controllers due to high demand. On platforms such as eBay, you’ll often see prices significantly higher than the original retail price. A fresh production run for this controller would provide Astro Bot enthusiasts another opportunity to acquire one without incurring excessive costs.
However, those who already own the controller might feel a bit let down by the prospect of newcomers getting an upgraded version. Here’s hoping that the enhancements are enjoyable without making existing owners feel like they’re missing out on something special.
The latest details about the DualSense controller and an additional Astro Bot announcement were unveiled. Developed by Team Asobi, the PS5 game now features five new levels as part of a free update. This update introduces the Vicious Void Galaxy, consisting of a total of five levels: Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc, High Inflation, and an unspecified fifth level. The update is now available across all regions.
Last year, Astro Bot was among the most praised games on PS5, earning multiple awards and nominations. It’s now a must-have exclusive for the system, and the Astro Bot character has emerged as a recognizable symbol for PlayStation. With more content being added to the game, it seems that Sony is planning to further develop the character and his series in the future. The popularity of the DualSense controller is evident as fans continue to seek out this game.
