PlayStation Plus members are in for a treat this October, with a highly anticipated, top-tier horror game set to be offered as a free download. While Sony hasn’t officially announced the October games yet, that could change very soon – they’re holding a presentation later today. It appears details about one of the games may have leaked ahead of the official reveal.
According to a post on Dealabs, *Alan Wake 2* is expected to be a free PlayStation Plus game in October 2025. It’s believed to be the biggest of three games added to the service next month, and if the information is accurate-Dealabs is usually reliable-PS Plus members should be able to download it from October 7th to November 4th.

Released in 2023 by Remedy Entertainment, *Alan Wake 2* is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 game *Alan Wake*. The story continues after the events of Remedy’s other game, *Control*, and takes place in the same shared universe. *Alan Wake 2* was a critical success, earning an impressive score of 89/100 on Metacritic and winning multiple Game of the Year awards.
Compared to the first *Alan Wake*, the sequel really emphasizes the horror elements. It’s a true survival-horror game with a creepy atmosphere and plenty of startling moments. Many consider it the best horror game released in the last five years, making it a great choice for fans of games like *Resident Evil* and *Silent Hill*.
As a huge gaming fan, I can confidently say that *Alan Wake 2* is absolutely essential. What’s really cool is that even if you’ve never played the first *Alan Wake* or *Control*, you can still jump right in and enjoy it. And the fact that it’s going to be available at no extra cost with PS Plus makes it even better! Honestly, it feels like one of the best games coming to the service all year, and it’s a fantastic way for PlayStation to finish 2025 strong.
