PlayStation Reportedly Releasing New PS5 Pro Model Very Soon

Sony is planning to release an updated version of the PS5 Pro in the near future. It’s been almost a year since the original PS5 Pro launched, and developers have been facing challenges with its PSSR technology. While details are still unclear, Sony seems to be addressing these issues with a hardware revision.

According to a report from Dealabs, Sony is planning to release an upgraded PS5 Pro. This new version, with model number CFI-121, is expected to become available in Europe starting September 30th. While a release date for the US hasn’t been announced, it’s likely to follow soon after.

The upcoming PS5 Pro isn’t expected to be a huge leap forward from the current model. The main improvement will likely be better energy efficiency, which Sony has been prioritizing recently. The console’s appearance and its internal 2TB storage drive should stay the same.

What Does This Mean for PS5 Pro?

If this information is correct, there’s likely no need to be concerned about the changes to the PS5 Pro. Sony has a history of making small hardware updates to its PlayStation consoles, and this seems to follow that pattern.

It’s great that the PS5 Pro will keep its 2TB SSD, especially since Sony recently reduced the storage in the new PS5 Slim from 1TB to 825GB. That change upset many fans, so it’s reassuring to see Sony won’t repeat it with the Pro.

The biggest challenge for the PS5 Pro right now is its price. Sony recently raised the console’s price to $750, which brings the total cost to over $800 with taxes. Considering this, along with other difficulties the console has faced, it might be hard for Sony to convince many PlayStation fans to buy it. It’s unclear whether Sony can maintain strong sales numbers despite these issues.
