PlayStation Stars Users Surprised After Some of the Best Rewards Get Removed Abruptly

As a PlayStation fanatic with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing about the sudden disappearance of games from the PlayStation Stars rewards catalog. I’ve been diligently saving up points for the coveted Helldivers 2 and a few other games, only to find them mysteriously vanished without so much as a “bye-bye” from Sony.

If you’re a user of the PlayStation Stars rewards program and have been accumulating points to buy a new PlayStation 5 game, there may be an issue: several reward options that were previously available for points have mysteriously disappeared from the PlayStation Stars catalog without any explanation from Sony. Among the removed rewards are full PlayStation 5 games like “Helldivers 2”, with only one game now remaining. However, you can still use your points to obtain PlayStation Store credit and purchase games in that manner.

As a dedicated PlayStation Stars user, I’ve been noticing lately that some games which I could previously obtain using my Stars points are no longer available. The rewards section of the PlayStation Store on PlayStation Stars wasn’t exactly bursting at the seams, but it did have some recent releases and timeless classics that I found appealing. Games like Helldivers 2, Minecraft, Rise of the Ronin, and DLCs for Apex Legends, Bloodborne, and others were among them. It’s a bit disappointing to see them disappear.

“Recently, a user mentioned that they looked for Helldivers 2 out of curiosity but couldn’t find it. They added that the only game they can redeem is Stellar Blade, which they already own.”

In numerous instances, users reported varying outcomes on their accounts regarding the PlayStation Stars program’s rewards, possibly due to geographical differences or other factors. However, what they all had in common was that these changes in the PlayStation Store rewards came unexpectedly and without any prior notice. As for my PlayStation Stars account, it only displays currencies from Genshin Impact and Stellar Blade, both of which I already possess, much like other users who have expressed similar concerns.

In an ideal situation, I hope this is just a temporary glitch, and my favorite games will return to the PlayStation Stars rewards program in due time. On the other hand, if the games are being swapped out for new ones, it’s not entirely unexpected, especially if Sony keeps us informed about any changes so we can plan accordingly. However, I can’t help but feel a bit apprehensive because there’s no telling whether the upcoming games will be as appealing as the ones I’ve been eagerly waiting to redeem my points for.

The ongoing issue with PlayStation Stars is a continuation of a more significant problem the platform faced earlier, which resulted in an extended downtime beyond expectations. Upon its return, users found that some of their earned content was missing, causing further difficulties even after the platform was restored.
