If you’re feeling down about potentially returning to the office in 2026, there’s exciting news for gamers! Sony’s PlayStation studios have a lot of new games in development, adding to an already impressive lineup that includes titles like Crimson Desert and GTA VI. There’s plenty to look forward to!
We wanted to know what exciting new features Sony is planning for its popular PlayStation console, the one known for creating memorable gaming experiences. After taking a close look, we’re happy to report that the future looks bright!
Interested in what’s new with PlayStation? Let’s explore what they have planned for this year!
Bend Studio

2025 was a difficult year for the developers of Days Gone. Sony’s attempt to focus on live-service games led to layoffs at the studio. However, it appears the team is moving forward and is now reportedly developing a multiplayer game that will also include live-service features, based on recent job advertisements.
Although recent news might not be what fans hoping for a Days Gone sequel want to hear, it’s best to hold off on drawing conclusions until there’s an official announcement. The studio is currently searching for a new Creative Director to lead their next project, and that project could potentially take place in the world of Days Gone or another franchise owned by Sony. It’s still early days, so this is all just speculation, but there’s still reason to be optimistic.
Bluepoint Games

I was really disappointed to hear about how Sony handled the cancellation of Bluepoint’s live-service game – it felt like five years of their hard work just went to waste, and they could have been using that time on something new. But it sounds like Bluepoint is moving on, which is great! Their recent job postings suggest they’re already starting work on a new action game, and I’m excited to see what they come up with.
Could the highly anticipated Bloodborne remake finally appear on the PlayStation 6? That’s what we’re hoping, but we’ll hold off on getting too excited until we hear an official announcement. While a remake would be fantastic, the studio could also focus on remastering another classic title, or even creating a completely new game – and we’d be thrilled with any of those options, given their skill.
It’s likely that 2026 will be a relatively calm year for Bluepoint Games. Hopefully, this peace is just the calm before they announce something big!
Dark Outlaw Games
Despite the unfortunate closure of Deviation Games in 2024, a new studio called Dark Outlaw has formed. They’re now building a team for a new project, with Jason Blundell – formerly of Deviation Games – leading the way as studio head and director.
Considering the lead developer’s history of hidden details and complex stories, Dark Outlaw has the potential to be a major release. However, we don’t expect to see it on consoles this year. We’ll have to wait and see if any news surfaces in the next year.
Firesprite Studios
We’re still learning about what this Liverpool studio is working on through their job postings, but it sounds promising! They’re developing a new project – a dark, story-driven game full of action – and we’re hoping to hear more details soon.
This new game is shaping up to be a high-quality, visually impressive title, and there’s a chance it could be a horror game, though that’s just a guess right now. We’re excited to learn more, and we’ll share any important updates with you as soon as we have them!
Guerrilla Games

Good news for fans of the Horizon series: Guerrilla Games is working on a new project set in the same world! However, it’s not a traditional single-player adventure like previous games. Instead, it’s a multiplayer experience that combines the exciting monster hunts of the Monster Hunter series with the unique world and design of Horizon.
This game, distinct from Steel Frontiers, seems poised to truly capture the beauty and depth of the world Guerrilla Games has created. It looks like a cooperative experience where you and your friends will hunt massive, mechanical creatures – promising a lot of enjoyable gameplay! However, the ultimate showdown between Aloy and Nemesis might not arrive until the next generation of consoles – possibly a PlayStation 6, or a game released on both current and next-gen systems.
Haven Studios

Sony’s plans to create ongoing, live-service games are facing challenges. The development of Farigame$ has been significantly impacted by the exits of studio founder Jade Raymond and creative director Daniel Drapeau, both of whom left in 2025.
Given the development team’s background in stealth games, which is clearly important to how the game is played, it will be interesting to see if Fairgame$ can stand out in a genre that’s often inconsistent in quality.
Despite the likely delay past 2026, we’re still hopeful about this game. It has a really interesting idea behind it, and the gameplay seems like it could be very engaging – you’ll really need to think strategically to succeed.
Housemarque

If you’ve been concerned about a lack of exciting PlayStation 5 games coming out this year, here’s some good news! While Saros has been pushed back a month, it’s still on track and looking fantastic, so the wait shouldn’t be too long.
We’ve been excited about Arjun Devraj’s exploration of Carcosa ever since it was announced in February 2025. The game looks like it will improve upon the fantastic gameplay of Returnal, adding new features like the Soltari Shield. This could be a major title for PlayStation and a standout game this year.
Insomniac Games

The team that created Marvel’s Spider-Man kept us waiting anxiously for news about Marvel’s Wolverine last year – it was a big topic of discussion! But now, it looks like the new game will deliver everything we’ve been hoping for.
The new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine is really promising! It looks like the game will successfully capture the darker, more intense side of Wolverine’s stories, and his powerful, animalistic fighting style will be central to the gameplay. The appearance of characters like Mystique and Omega Red has us excited and anticipating a release date, which is currently expected in 2026.
Malaysia Studio
Currently, the only news about the PlayStation Malaysia studio is upcoming layoffs in 2025, suggesting a slow year for the team. This appears to be another setback related to live-service games, and it remains to be seen if things will improve for the studio.
Media Molecule
Even after its founders left, Media Molecule had job postings suggesting their new game, first announced in 2023, could launch around 2026. Some of these contracts lasted until 2027, which is encouraging. However, the studio has clarified this new project will be a more standard game compared to their previous creation, Dreams, and these postings don’t actually confirm a release date.
Honestly, it’s really reassuring to see Media Molecule still going strong. It sounds like they’re working on something that’s going to be visually stunning and have a really interesting story, which is what they always deliver on PlayStation. I’m excited to see what they come up with!
Naughty Dog
We’re thrilled to announce Intergalactic, and we know you are too! Over the holidays, there were reports of extra work being required at Naughty Dog to ensure the game stayed on schedule after some delays. The studio has assured us they now have a solid plan for the year ahead.
The game is currently planned for release around mid-2027, which may be later than some players were expecting. However, this could be a smart decision, giving the developers more time to polish the game and avoid overworking themselves. Naughty Dog seems to be prioritizing a healthy work environment, and that’s a good sign.
Nixxes Software
2025 was a strong year for the studio, especially on PC. They brought over popular PlayStation exclusives like The Last of Us Part 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC, and also helped develop the Xbox Series X|S version of Helldivers 2, as well as providing some updates to the PC version of that game.
I’m really excited to see Housemarque getting support this year with art and gameplay stuff for Saros, which is coming out in April 2026. I’m curious what they’ll tackle after that, but honestly, I’ve been so impressed with their PC ports lately that I’m confident they’ll keep delivering quality games.
Polyphony Digital

Gran Turismo 7 remains a success for the development team, currently boasting around two million active players. This number is expected to increase as they consistently release new cars and tracks with high quality.
The studio will likely spend most of the year continuing to improve its realistic racing game. While fans are eager to hear about what’s next, we’re hoping they’ll keep focusing on this current game, which has been very successful for PlayStation and is already known for its quality.
San Diego Studio

A recent job posting at Sony San Diego Studio suggests they may be planning to release MLB: The Show on PC. This move aligns with Sony’s changing strategy regarding exclusive games, and would likely be welcomed by PC gamers eager to play the title.
San Mateo Studio
This particular project doesn’t seem very promising, but the studio consistently provides valuable support to some of Sony’s other game developers. They’ll likely contribute to future games, though we probably won’t see any results from their work this year.
Santa Monica Studio
Rumors suggest the studio is developing a major new project, possibly a prequel set in ancient Greece that explores the origins of the series, with announcements expected around 2025.
Some believe the company might remake Kinetica, the game that first brought them success. Kinetica was a remarkably well-built racing game where players controlled vehicles that were actually their characters. Realistic physics made the races challenging and exciting.
We’re eager to learn what the studio is working on, but we’ll have to be patient and see if they release a new game this year. It’s a big studio, so we’re expecting something great!
Sucker Punch

Brian Fleming is stepping down as head of the studio that created Ghost of Yotei. Jason Connell and Adrian Bentley, both long-time contributors to the studio’s achievements, will be taking over leadership. While it will be interesting to follow the studio’s future direction, 2026 is likely to be a relatively calm year for new releases.
We’re eager to find out if there will be a new downloadable chapter continuing Atsu’s story, and to learn more about what she did before returning to face the Yotei Six. The developers are still deciding on this, but we can also look forward to the Legends content in the meantime.
Team Asobi

We’re eager to see what this studio is working on, as they haven’t released much news since Astro Bot came out in 2024. We appreciate their commitment to PlayStation games, even though some popular titles are now available on PC. We’re hoping for updates to Astro Bot or news about their next project this year, but there haven’t been any announcements yet.
teamLFG
This new studio is likely developing an exciting game that combines team-based action, fighting, and MOBA gameplay – it could be a really addictive experience for action fans when it releases on PlayStation. However, with the studio only launching last year, and the game being a large project, it will probably take some time before it’s ready.
Valkyrie Entertainment

Not much is known about the studio behind games like Twisted Metal and Infamous, but we might hear something new from them later this year. Hopefully, it will be positive news!
XDev
The Liverpool team at the studio is currently working on Saros, and will likely be focused on it until it launches in April. There’s also talk of a MotorStorm remake, but we’re not entirely convinced it’s happening, even though we’d love to revisit that game – it was a blast back when it first came out.
A science fiction role-playing game is reportedly being developed, and the company’s Tokyo team might be working on it currently, alongside their ongoing support for games like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, including updates and bug fixes.
Wow, what a year it’s shaping up to be for PlayStation! As a huge fan, I’m so excited about all the games Sony’s studios are working on. Hopefully, we’ll get even more details throughout the year, but even now, there’s so much to look forward to – especially with all those amazing exclusives coming to the PS5! It’s a great time to be a PlayStation owner.
