Apple TV+’s new sci-fi comedy-drama, Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan (of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fame) and starring Rhea Seehorn, appears to be a success. The show, which recently concluded its first season, centers around a world where an alien virus has connected most of humanity into a single, collective consciousness called “The Joining.” Only a small group of people, including novelist Carol Sturka (played by Seehorn), remain unaffected.
Throughout the first season of Pluribus, we (along with Carol) discovered that this new world operates on a truly unusual principle: a collective consciousness that is remarkably kind and welcoming, always seeking to include others in its joyful existence. The show also delved into the complexities of being human – the benefits and drawbacks of individuality and free will – in a way rarely seen in contemporary science fiction. By the end of the season, it felt like Vince Gilligan was just beginning to explore the full potential of this world, similar to how he started Breaking Bad.
What can we expect in Pluribus Season 2? Here’s a rundown of everything revealed by official sources, as well as the show’s cast and crew.
Pluribus Season 2: When Will It Be Released (& How Many Seasons)?

Apple TV+ quickly renewed the series Pluribus for a second season, right after the first episode, “We Is Us,” aired. The decision was a no-brainer, as Pluribus became an instant success for Apple TV+, generating a lot of excitement online and elsewhere. From the first episode to the finale, positive reviews, fan theories, and overall hype for the show and its cast continued to build. Based on how other Apple TV+ shows have performed, this is likely just the start of Pluribus becoming a major part of popular culture.
Fans hoping for a quick return of Pluribus might be disappointed. Experts, including those at Forbes, are predicting Season 2 won’t arrive until late 2027, or even 2028. This wait could become even longer, as creator Vince Gilligan has suggested the show might run for four seasons, potentially stretching Carol’s storyline well into the 2030s.
Pluribus Season Is Expected to Retain the Main Cast (Possibly Add A Few More)

Rhea Seehorn will definitely be back as Carol Sturka, and it seems likely Karolina Wydra (known from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Carlos-Manuel Vesga (Devuélveme la vida) will return as well. This information comes from interviews the actors have given since the Pluribus finale.
I was listening to Rhea Seehorn talk about the next season of Pluribus, and she was pretty firm: details are locked down with Vince Gilligan, and nobody else knows anything yet! The end of Season 1 was a huge shock – remember Carol finally getting her hands on a real atomic bomb? It felt like it was building to that from the very beginning. But now, with Maousos, Carol’s only friend, potentially finding a cure for the Joining, I’m really wondering how the whole threat of the bomb even fits into the story anymore. It’s a fascinating puzzle!
The Joined remain unsettling and mysterious. Rumors persist that they consume the deceased, transform those with immunity, and ultimately aim to expand their collective consciousness beyond our planet. This makes them a lingering threat to Carol, as they’re actively trying to decode her DNA for conversion. The second season of Pluribus promises high stakes and significant danger.
Pluribus Season 2: Everything Rhea Seehorn Knows (So Far)

Kim Wexler actress Rhea Seehorn told Radio Times she doesn’t have to worry about keeping plot details under wraps. ‘I genuinely have no idea what’s happening with the atom bomb storyline,’ she explained. ‘I’ve spent a lot of time wondering, but I’ve decided not to ask the writers directly, as they’re currently working on season two.’
I’m really excited about Season 2 of Pluribus, according to Seehorn. She thinks the most compelling part will be how the relationships between the core characters develop. It’s fascinating because Gilligan has managed to create this huge sci-fi world – think synchronized movements of the Joined or these eerily empty locations – while also keeping it incredibly focused on the people within it. The first season was largely about Carol and her journey to connect with characters like Zosia, Manousos, and especially Koumba Diabáte (played by Samba Schutte). He’s an ‘immune’ person from Mauritania who’s actually embracing the idea of becoming a ruler on Earth, and I can’t wait to see where that goes.

Showrunner Seehorn expressed her desire for Season 2 of Pluribus to explore Carol’s interactions with the two men who are immune to the virus, whom she encountered in Season 1. While she’s eager to see how Carol’s complex relationship with Zosia (played by Karoline Wydra) develops, she’s also intrigued by the evolving dynamic with Koumba Diabaté’s character. She wonders if he might be willing to help Carol, now that he’s shown some compassion and admitted he wouldn’t want to be turned either.
I’m really excited about the scenes with Carlos-Manuel Vesga, who plays Manousos – he’s fantastic. Their characters are constantly clashing because they’re both so determined to protect their own secrets and goals, making for some really funny moments. It was a lot of fun to work with him, and he’s a truly talented actor.
