As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the studio behind Palworld, Pocketpair Publishing, has some exciting news in store! Following the chilling release of Dead Take, we’re teaming up with another studio to bring yet another game to life. Although the specifics are still under wraps, John Buckley, our communications director and publishing manager, hinted that it’s one of several games we’ve got cooking. So, keep your eyes peeled for more updates on this very exciting new project!
Buckley announced on platform X a few days ago that they had signed an extremely thrilling game. They can’t share more details just yet as it needs some time to develop, but there are other exciting projects ready to be unveiled soon. Of course, all of them promise to be top-notch!
Back in January, Pocketpair shared their intentions to release independent games, with the initial title being a unique horror game developed by Surgent Studios, known for creating Tales of Kenzera: Zau. This upcoming game, later unveiled as Dead Take, was released on PC on July 31.
Not long after revealing the partnership, Buckley expressed on social media his reasons behind Pocketpair’s venture into game publishing. In a string of posts, he emphasized that Pocketpair aims to assist independent studios in securing funding for their projects, thereby shielding them from “oppressive rule enforcers and tormentors.
Buckley says: ‘You receive money, create the game. If you need assistance with marketing or anything else, we’re here to help, but otherwise feel free to do as you wish. Our aim is to provide developers with the financial independence they need to create games they love, without being controlled by strict rulemakers and bullies.’
Buckley had expressed his astonishment at the high level of enthusiasm that Pocketpair Publishing received when it was initially unveiled. He wrote, “We introduced Pocketpair Publishing just 15 hours ago… Prior to that, my inboxes were empty… It appears I may have underestimated the amount of curiosity surrounding this venture.” (This post was made back in January.)
Pocketpair Publishing’s debut game, titled Dead Take, was subtly introduced to the public. The head of the studio, Abubakar Salim, explained that the mysterious rollout of the game had a specific intent.
Salim commented in the press release about Dead Take, “We’re keeping things under wraps for a good reason.” The topic of this game is sensitive and personally significant. When it’s finally released (and it won’t be much longer), I hope players will think, ‘I can hardly believe they went that far with it.’
In July, the trailer for the game “Dead Take” was officially unveiled, showcasing that it would boast several well-known actors, such as Neil Newbon (from “Baldur’s Gate 3,” playing Astarion) and Ben Starr (who voices Clive Rossfeld in “Final Fantasy 16”). Additionally, the game boasts a number of esteemed voice actors like Matthew Mercer and Laura Bailey. Notably, it even includes a cameo by Sam Lake.
Hey gaming enthusiasts! I trust your weekends have been thrilling so far, especially with Dead Take. If you haven’t given it a try yet, I recommend you do! 😊
In the meantime, let me share some exhilarating news: We’ve just signed a fantastic new game! Keep an eye out for more details coming your way soon!
