The new Pokémon battling game, Pokémon Champions, will launch sometime in late 2026. Since it was first announced last year, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company haven’t given many details about the game’s release. But to celebrate Pokémon Day, they’ve now shared a more specific timeframe for when players can expect it.
During the recent Pokemon Presents showcase, The Pokemon Company announced that Pokemon Champions will be released in April 2026. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s expected to be revealed soon. The game will first be available on Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2, with a mobile version coming later in 2026. All versions of Champions will work together, allowing players to share save data and play with each other across different platforms.
Along with the announcement of the release timeframe, a new trailer for Pokemon Champions was revealed, giving players a better look at the gameplay. It appears to share many similarities with previous Pokemon titles, but boasts a more polished and modern style that sets it apart.
Pokemon Champions Is the Future of Competitive Pokemon
Pokemon Champions is expected to be a significant release for The Pokemon Company, likely becoming the main game for competitive play for years to come. While players usually compete using the newest Pokemon games, Champions seems set to become the new standard. It’s already been confirmed that the game will be used at this year’s Pokemon World Championships.
Honestly, there’s a lot of hype around Pokemon Champions, and The Pokemon Company really needs to deliver a game we’ll keep playing for a long time. Luckily, it sounds like they’re letting us connect Pokemon Home, which is huge! That means I can finally bring all my favorite Pokemon from past games into this one, and that’s a massive win for me as a player.
