Pokemon Day 2026 Predictions, Ranked From Least to Most Likely

Okay, so The Pokemon Company is really getting the ball rolling for their 30th anniversary! I noticed a new logo popped up as soon as it hit 2026 in Japan. But honestly, it sounds like we’ll have to wait for the annual Pokemon Presents showcase to get the big reveals. That usually happens around Pokemon Day – February 27th – and it looks like they’re planning to time it perfectly with the 30th anniversary of the very first games launching in Japan. Everyone’s hyped, and we’re all hoping for some awesome announcements to celebrate!

Every Pokémon Presents presentation is unpredictable. While fans often have ideas about what to expect, The Pokémon Company usually reveals some unexpected announcements. With Pokémon Day 2026 marking a significant anniversary, excitement is particularly high. Here are a few potential announcements we might see, based on a mix of personal predictions and popular fan theories. I’ve ranked these from most to least likely, considering how realistic each announcement seems for 2026.

10) New Pokemon Console Spin-Off Game

I usually anticipate a new Pokémon console game announcement around Pokémon Day each year, though we don’t get one every time. However, with Pokémon Pokopia already scheduled for release in March 2026, I’d be surprised if they announced another major console game so soon, especially with a new Switch 2 title coming out this year. While it’s not impossible, I don’t think it’s likely we’ll see another announcement this year.

9) Pokemon Red and Blue on Nintendo Switch Online

I’d love to be more optimistic, but I doubt we’ll see Pokémon Red and Blue added to Nintendo Switch Online in 2026. The core series games haven’t been included in the service yet, and there’s likely a reason for that. Considering how many times these original games have been remade, I fully expect another remake before we get a Nintendo Switch Online release of the originals. If Red and Blue do come to Switch, I predict they’ll be a paid download, either as a bundle or a separate purchase, rather than being included with an NSO membership.

8) More Pokemon TCG 30th Anniversary Items Announced

The Pokémon Company has announced a limited collection for Pokémon Day 2026, focused on the Trading Card Game. While this might be the only release planned, it’s likely there’s more to come. Considering the recent issues with card shortages and scalping, it’s possible they’re intentionally keeping the 30th anniversary set relatively small to ensure fans can actually obtain the products. However, I wouldn’t be shocked if they announce a larger release to celebrate the milestone.

7) Pokemon Black and White Remakes

For years, Pokémon fans have been eagerly awaiting remakes of the Black and White games. Rumors about new versions often pop up around this time of year. Now that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been released, many believe the fifth generation of Pokémon games is next in line for a remake. However, I’m not convinced we’ll hear an announcement in 2025. It seems more likely that Game Freak will focus on releasing the tenth generation of Pokémon games this year, especially since Pokémon Legends: Z-A recently revisited an older region. Hopefully, remakes of the Unova region (Black and White) will be revealed on Pokémon Day, but I’m not holding my breath.

6) New Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu Trailer

The core of the Pokémon franchise remains the Pokémon Horizons anime, though series like Pokémon Concierge have gained a lot of attention recently. We know a new stop-motion project with Aardman Animations is planned, but we haven’t seen much about it since last year’s Pokémon Presents. Pokémon Tales isn’t expected until 2027, so it might not be featured this year. However, I expect we’ll likely learn more details about it during the upcoming Pokémon Day celebration.

5) 10th Anniversary Event for Pokemon Go

I’m certain Pokémon Go will have an event to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. However, since the anniversary isn’t until July 6th, it’s unclear if we’ll hear about it on Pokémon Day. We might get a short preview as part of a look back at the franchise’s 30-year history, but whether we’ll get details about the event itself is still uncertain.

4) New Trailer for Pokemon Pokopia

With Pokemon Pokopia coming out in early March, we can expect to see some advertising for it soon. The Pokemon Presents 2026 event will probably include a final reminder to pre-order before the March 5th launch. A new trailer is likely, although we’ve already seen quite a bit of gameplay footage. It’s also possible we’ll just get a short promotional video. Ultimately, how much other content is featured in Pokemon Presents will determine what we see for Pokopia.

3) Pokemon Champions Release Date Announcement (& Possible Shadow Drop)

Pokemon Day 2026 will be one year after the initial announcement of Pokemon Champions. The game is slated for release in 2026, bringing a new competitive battling experience to mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch. With it now being 2026, I’d be very surprised if we don’t get a release date during the 2026 Pokemon Presents presentation. It’s even possible the game could be released unexpectedly, similar to Pokemon Friends, though the upcoming launch of Pokopia might change those plans. Either way, we’re almost certain to receive an update on Pokemon Champions this year.

2) Pokemon Gen 10 Announcement

There’s a lot of debate among fans about when the next generation of Pokémon games, Generation 10, will come out, with some doubting a 2026 release. However, most people likely expect to hear something about Gen 10 during this year’s Pokémon Presents event. Considering the strong rumors and leaks about the game’s names, I anticipate we’ll at least find out what the new games are called and get a first look at what to expect. I believe the games will probably launch in 2026, though an announcement this year followed by a 2027 release is also possible.

1) Mobile & Live Service Promos

We’re likely to see free promo codes for various Pokemon mobile games this year. Pokemon Presents events usually highlight live service games like Pokemon Unite and Pokemon Cafe Remix, and because it’s an anniversary year, I expect plenty of freebies and in-game rewards will be offered. I anticipate major games will participate, offering things like in-game currency and gifts through these codes.

While not officially announced, a Pokémon Presents event is expected around February 27th. We don’t know the exact time yet, but given Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, it’s very likely they’ll continue the tradition of a Pokémon Day presentation.
