The next generation of Pokémon games, following Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, might finally include a long-requested feature. Fans have been hoping for this addition since the very first Pokémon Red and Green games, and after 30 years, many had given up on it ever happening.
There’s no official news yet about the next generation of Pokémon games (Generation 10), as Game Freak and Nintendo haven’t shared any details. However, a reliable Pokémon leaker, BallGuy, has hinted that Generation 10 might include voice acting – a first for the main series games.
A Big Addition to Pokemon Games
While some Pokémon games like Detective Pikachu, New Pokémon Snap, and Pokémon Masters EX have featured voice acting before, the main Pokémon role-playing games haven’t—aside from Pikachu’s occasional ‘Pika!’
Although BallGuy is generally a reliable source of information, this isn’t a clear leak – it’s more of a hint. It’s also somewhat unclear if this hint is actually what the leaker intends it to be, so take it with a grain of salt. You can see the hint for yourself below.

Previous Rumors About Pokemon Gen 10
There’s been talk for a while that the next Pokémon generation (Generation 10) could be a fresh start for the series. This suggests we might see significant changes and improvements, and recent developments seem to support that idea. However, Pokémon hasn’t fundamentally evolved much since the beginning, so a complete overhaul, like adding voice acting, feels like a big leap. Still, the humorous criticism of the silent cutscenes in Pokémon Sword and Shield may have pushed Game Freak and Nintendo to finally take the plunge. Ultimately, adding voice acting feels like a natural next step for the series.
