It’s almost unbelievable, but the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is just weeks away. This highly anticipated game has sparked some debate among fans due to its new battle system, but many are still excited to have a new main series (or similar) Pokemon game. As it has done with previous game launches and anime series like Pokemon Horizons, Pokemon Go is joining the celebration with a special event. While the event isn’t wowing most fans, there’s one particular detail that will likely draw many players away from Lumiose City and back into Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go has just announced its Pokemon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event. It will start on October 16th, timed with the release of Z-A, and last until 8 PM local time on October 20th. Generally, it’s a fairly basic event that hasn’t generated much excitement among players. This is understandable, as it’s happening at the same time as a big release for the Pokemon series, so it makes sense that Niantic isn’t releasing its best content then. However, some players still plan to participate because they can use a Charged TM to teach their Pokemon special attacks.
Fans Hope More Events Will Follow Suit With Legends: Z-A Celebration Event in Pokemon Go

I’m so excited for the Z-A celebration in Pokemon Go! It totally makes sense that they’re adding more Mega Raids, since Mega Evolution seems really important in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Plus, they’re giving us Timed Research where we can catch the original starters – Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig! And, of course, there’s a new Special Background – Pokemon Go always gives us those! They’re even adding free avatar items based on the main character’s outfit from Legends: Z-A, which is awesome!
Here’s a neat bonus: the Pokemon you pick during the Timed Research will show up more often when you use Daily Adventure Incense. This means it’ll be simpler to collect Candies and hunt for Shiny versions of that particular starter Pokemon. Everything is fairly simple, and these Pokemon have been available in Pokemon Go for some time now. This is another reason fans are planning to play during the Legends: Z-A event.
Like a lot of Pokemon Go events, this one’s gonna have some cool, special Charged Attacks. If I evolve my Bayleef, Croconaw, or Pignite during the event, they’ll learn a unique attack each. But, honestly, I might not want to evolve them if I *already* have a strong 3-star version of those starters. That’s where the best part of the Legends: Z-A event comes in – it’s a pretty big perk!

During this event, you can also have your Bayleef learn this special attack using a Charged TM. This means you won’t need to evolve a new Bayleef into Meganium just to get Frenzy Plant. Simply use a Charged TM on your existing Bayleef during the Pokemon Go event connected to Pokemon Legends: Z-A. While this isn’t the first time Charged Moves have been learned this way during events, it’s not always possible. Many players are hoping this becomes a standard feature whenever a special Charged Attack is available in future Pokemon Go events.
Generally, players aren’t very excited about this event. However, it does offer a valuable chance to teach the Legends: Z-A starter Pokémon a special Charged Attack using a TM. This is a significant advantage compared to having to evolve them from the beginning during the event, and it’s something we hope to see in similar events going forward. The Pokemon Legends: Z-A celebration event in Pokemon Go will take place from October 16th to October 20th. If you’re interested in getting these exclusive moves, be sure to take a break from your Lumiose City gameplay to use some Charged TMs.
