Pokemon Go Just Made Two Shiny Pokemon Easier to Catch, And You Can Find Them Right Now

In August, Pokemon Go is bursting with activities and chances for players to capture Shiny variants of numerous Pokemon. Although the month is still young, a fresh event has already begun, offering increased chances of encountering Shiny versions of certain Pokemon at this moment. The ongoing event is called Sweet Swarm, running from now until Wednesday, August 6th at 11:59 p.m., local time. Over the next few days, some players might be lucky enough to stumble upon two distinct Shiny Pokemon: Combee and Swirlix.

Just like how Fossil Research Day doesn’t bring out Shiny Pokemon in the wild, the same applies to Pokemon Go. To get a chance at meeting Shiny Combee or Swirlix with increased rates, you’ll need to finish Field Research and Time-limited Research tasks that will be provided. From now until August 4th, 11:59 p.m. local time, the game will offer Time-limited Research that rewards players with numerous Swirlix encounters. Afterwards, from August 5th midnight until August 6th at 11:59 p.m., expect more Time-limited Research focused on Combee. During this event, Lure Modules will attract both Pokemon for an hour instead of the usual 30 minutes.

Among the two radiant Pokémon, Swirlix is the one that’s particularly noteworthy to find. Unlike its typical white and pink appearance, it adopts a brown and tan color scheme, which persists even in its evolved form, Slurpuff, making it more noticeable. In contrast, Shiny Combee and Vespiquen, while not bad, have a more pronounced burnt orange tint instead of the regular yellow. There are certainly other Shiny Pokémon that might be less appealing!

Shiny Pokemon may not provide any practical benefits compared to their regular counterparts during battles in Gyms, Raids, or PvP. However, their scarcity adds an allure that has captivated players since the introduction of the Shiny concept in Pokemon Gold and Silver. A unique appearance is also a plus for some Shiny Pokemon, with certain ones becoming fan favorites over time.

After the Sweet Swarm occurrence, Pokemon Go enthusiasts have plenty of exciting things to anticipate throughout August. With Hatch Days, the introduction of a new Go Pass, the emergence of Shadow Kyogre in Shadow Raids, and a grand Eternatus-themed culmination, there are numerous motivations to continue playing until the end of summer. Of course, Shiny hunters won’t want to miss out on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet this month either, as these Nintendo Switch games are currently hosting their own Shiny event, which will be active for the coming weeks.
