While Battlefield 6 had a very successful launch in Europe, Pokémon Legends: Z-A quickly took the top spot in game sales. According to data from GSD and reported by Chris Dring of The Game Business, Pokémon Legends: Z-A was the best-selling game for the week of October 19th, pushing Battlefield 6 to second place.
It’s not surprising that the game sold well on the Nintendo Switch 2 – Nintendo even stated that half of the initial week’s sales came from the new platform, despite more people owning the original Switch. However, sales are down about 28 percent compared to the previous game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This makes it the lowest-selling main Pokémon game since the Pokémon: Let’s Go series.
This doesn’t include digital sales figures, but even considering only physical copies, the game’s potential to outperform Battlefield 6 is remarkable. As Dring points out, Nintendo games typically sell more copies in stores than through the eShop, which is different from PlayStation, Xbox, and PC games.
