Pokemon Legends: Z-A Fans Slam Game Freak for Ruining Fan-Favorite Pokemon

Fans of the *Pokémon* series are criticizing Game Freak and the new game, *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*, claiming it negatively changes a beloved *Pokémon*. After having a few days to play the sequel to *Pokémon Legends: Arceus*, many players have shared their disappointment, reflected in a low Metacritic user score of 4.2 out of 10.

Don’t read too much into this score. You can find lots of opinions about the new Nintendo Switch 2 game online, and many people are already discussing its issues. For instance, a popular post on the Pokémon Reddit page points out that the Pokémon Aegislash isn’t very effective or useful in the game.

What’s Wrong?

The game’s Stance Change mechanic for Pokemon doesn’t seem fully developed, especially during battles. This becomes a major problem later in the game with Pokemon like Aegislash. It can’t attack without first changing stances, and each stance change, positioning move, and actual attack all have their own animations. By the time Aegislash finally attacks, you’ve usually already been defeated.

Man… Aegislash SUCKS in Real-Time

The high number of upvotes, along with many of the comments, clearly show what people think.

Many fans agree Aegislash is a great Pokémon, but it struggles in longer battles. One top commenter explained that its slow animation when switching stances and lack of a Mega Evolution make it difficult to use effectively. Another fan simply stated it’s ‘unusable’.

While a future update *could* address this, Game Freak doesn’t typically offer robust post-launch support, particularly when it comes to balancing gameplay. Because of this, Aegislash probably won’t become a strong choice in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*. In fact, many issues fans had with *Pokemon Scarlet and Violet* haven’t been fixed in the new game.

Okay, so like all recent *Pokemon* games, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* isn’t perfect – there are definitely some problems and things that feel a little strange. But honestly, the main part of the game is still really fun, according to our review!
