The upcoming game titled “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” is scheduled to drop within approximately two months, however, there’s still quite a bit we don’t know about it. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have been relatively tight-lipped about the game details, despite it being rumored as the main holiday release for both the Switch and Switch 2 consoles. One of the most intriguing aspects of “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” remains the Mega Evolutions – we do know that the developers are introducing new Mega Evolutions, which hasn’t happened in more than a decade. So far, only one Mega Evolution has been unveiled, and that’s Mega Dragonite.
Earlier this year, a list surfaced online suggesting potential Pokemon receiving Mega Evolutions for the upcoming game Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The authenticity of the list remains uncertain, but it’s worth mentioning that the leak did not contain any images. One of the Pokemon mentioned on the list was Victreebel, a Grass/Poison type introduced in Pokemon Red and Green. Months after the leak, an image seemingly showing Mega Victreebel appeared during a Pokemon TCG event held in China. Some fans are speculating that it’s genuine. You can find the image of the card in the post from @HiddenPowerPod below.
Could it be the initial glimpse of a Mega-Evolved Victreebel, suggested by the artwork posted online which might have originated from a Chinese Pokémon Trading Card Game event and its design aligns with rumors about Mega Victreebell’s description?

Though the possibility of a new Mega Evolution image surfacing could spark enthusiasm, it seems that rumors about this might have been already dispelled. It’s been noted by numerous fans that events such as this one for the Pokemon Trading Card Game often encourage attendees to create their own designs. The Mega Victreebel design circulating as an authentic leak appears to be nothing more than impressive fan art. If Mega Victreebel is indeed making an appearance in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, we’ll have to exercise patience, either until the game is released and we can see it for ourselves, or until The Pokemon Company officially reveals its design.
Over the next two months, it’ll be intriguing to find out how The Pokemon Company unveils their Mega Evolution strategies. It seems plausible that they might save all the new designs until after the game’s release, keeping them as a delightful surprise for the players. However, we can expect to see more than just Mega Dragonite designs before launch. The exact timing is uncertain, but anticipation could start building approximately a month before the launch, which has been typical for Nintendo-published games, so it makes sense.
At the moment, Nintendo’s upcoming releases for the remainder of 2025 are largely unknown. Before Pokemon Legends: Z-A on October 16th, we’re certain about Drag x Drive arriving on August 14th. However, it’s uncertain if a game from Nintendo will be released in September as well. Fans have speculated that something might be unveiled then, but the details are still unclear.
