Pokemon Legends: Z-A Gets First Huge Update Since Release

The initial major update for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is now available. After the game launched last month, the developers at Game Freak acknowledged a few problems and promised to fix them. Players have been eager to find out when the update would arrive, as Game Freak didn’t announce a specific date. Now, the wait is over – the update has finally been released.

The first update for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is now available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Version 1.0.2 includes some improvements to Ranked battles, adjusting how points and rewards are earned. The update also fixes issues with a few side quests that were previously uncompletable under specific circumstances.

Alongside today’s update, Nintendo and Game Freak revealed the first downloadable content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, called Mega Dimensions, which will be available on December 10th. This expansion will continue the game’s story and introduce new Mega Evolutions. Notably, Pokémon will now be able to exceed level 100 – a first for the Pokémon series. Players who are already enjoying Z-A can expect Mega Dimensions to add a significant amount of new content and replayability.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Update Ver. 1.0.2 Patch Notes

Fixes Applied for the Following Issues

  • If your Pokémon Boxes became full before the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle and the Boxes menu had not been opened at any point prior to being filled, Pokémon catch attempts would always fail. Additionally, if a side mission that allows you to receive Pokémon was attempted under these conditions, the mission would be completed without granting the Pokémon.
  • In certain side missions, if the time of day switched between daytime and nighttime at the exact moment that a move hit its target, it became impossible to hit the target afterward, rendering the side mission incapable of being progressed further.
  • In Trainer battles, if the opposing Trainer switched Pokémon and the player simultaneously activated Mega Evolution, the game may have become unplayable because the opposing Trainer failed to send out a new Pokémon.
  • Other minor issues have also been fixed.

Ranked Battles Balance Adjustments

  • To prevent points from decreasing based on match outcomes, points awarded according to ranking have been adjusted.
  • Battle rewards have been partially increased and added to the rewards received after each match.
