Pokémon Legends: Z-A is Getting an Update in November Two Address Bugs

Game Freak, the developer of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, will release an update in November to fix a couple of key issues. The update will address problems with side quests and a specific battle – the first time players encounter a Rogue Mega Evolution.

A key issue in the first battle of Pokémon Legends: Z-A happens only when your Pokémon storage is completely full beforehand. If your boxes weren’t full at any point before the battle, you won’t be able to catch any new Pokémon. Additionally, a side quest that’s supposed to give you a Pokémon might finish without actually rewarding you with one.

There’s another, harder-to-trigger bug where hitting an enemy at the precise moment the game transitions from day to night makes them unattackable. This can completely block progress on certain side missions.

Released earlier this month for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a new open-world Pokémon adventure similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This time, the game is set in the Kalos region, with a focus on the city of Lumiose. Players will explore the world, capture and battle Pokémon, and face powerful, challenging versions of Pokémon called Rogue Mega Evolutions.

The new Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, has quickly become a success. Last week, The Pokémon Company announced it sold over 5.8 million copies in its first week. Although this is slightly lower than the sales of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it’s still a very strong start for the game.

While Pokémon Legends: Z-A was still the best-selling game when it launched in Europe, it sold about 28% fewer copies than the previous game in the series. However, sales data from the week ending October 19th showed that more copies of the new game were sold on the Nintendo Switch 2 compared to the original Switch.

In the US, Pokémon Legends: Z-A had the biggest physical launch of any game since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out in 2023. A lot of the game’s sales are thanks to bundles that included the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.
