The first expansion for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, called Mega Dimension, is almost here, and a recent trailer has revealed a surprising new feature: a Mega Evolution for a mythical Pokemon! Fans weren’t expecting such a big reveal before the DLC launches on December 10th, and it’s got everyone wondering what other surprises are in store.
When the Mega Dimension DLC was announced, we learned Raichu would receive a new Mega Evolution. The first trailer showed Mega Evolutions for Chimecho and Baxcalibur as well. Now, with the latest trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, The Pokemon Company has surprised fans by revealing a brand-new Mega Evolution for the Mythical Pokemon Zeraora.
Zeraora Gets New Mega Evolution That Looks a Lot Like Luxray
The latest trailer prominently features the new Mega Zeraora, so it wasn’t a shock to viewers. However, most Pokémon fans wouldn’t have predicted Zeraora as the next Pokémon to receive a Mega Evolution. Zeraora wasn’t even available in the original Pokémon X and Y games! Despite this, it’s returning with a new Mega Evolution in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC. You can see the reveal in the trailer below.
Fans were quite surprised when Pokémon unexpectedly revealed a new Mythical Mega Evolution on a Wednesday morning. What’s even more unusual is that this new Mega Evolution isn’t for a Pokémon from the Pokémon X and Y games, which Pokémon Legends: Z-A is based on. As one commenter pointed out, debuting a Mega Evolution from a different generation is a bold move – and some fans jokingly suggested it leaves Volcanion feeling overlooked.
While many were surprised to see Zeraora in the new trailer, fans are especially noticing the similarities between its new design and a Mega Evolution of Luxray. Some are even jokingly suggesting that this new form is actually a disguised Luxray Mega Evolution. One fan commented, “It really looks like Luxray, and that’s a good thing!”

The new trailer mainly showed off the exciting Mythical Mega Pokemon. However, one fan pointed out something interesting: Zubat are now flying around Lumiose City. This Pokemon, known for appearing in dark caves in earlier games, wasn’t originally in the base game, but it’s back in this downloadable content, much to some players’ amusement (and maybe a little annoyance!).
We got a great preview of Mega Zeraora, but the Pokémon Company hints it won’t be easy to add to your team. The details suggest we’ll need to watch for instructions on how to encounter this rare Pokémon when the new story content for Mega Dimension becomes available on December 10th.
