Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Evolution Designs Make Me Worried About Generation 10

The announcement of *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* thrilled Pokemon fans, largely because it brought back Mega Evolutions. As the game’s October 16th release nears, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have been gradually showcasing new Mega Evolved Pokemon, including Dragonite, Victreebel, Hawlucha, and Malamar. However, while fans were initially excited about the return of Mega Evolutions, many are now expressing concerns about the designs of these new forms, with a growing consensus that they aren’t very appealing.

Mega Evolutions are usually exciting additions to the Pokémon series, offering fresh ways to evolve existing Pokémon. However, the new Mega Evolutions revealed in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* haven’t been well-received. This has me worried about the design direction of future Pokémon games, specifically Generation 10. If the company struggles to create appealing new Mega Evolutions, it makes me question how good completely new Pokémon designs will be.

Legends: Z-A Has Some Awful New Looks for Classic Pokemon

When Mega Dragonite was first shown off in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, fans didn’t react well. Many, including myself, thought its design was silly and poorly done – criticisms that have actually been leveled at regular Dragonite for years. But Dragonite is a classic from the very first generation of Pokemon, and it’s earned goodwill through memorable appearances and nostalgia. Mega Dragonite, being new, doesn’t have that same advantage.

The pattern continued with Mega Victrebell: the announcement trailer was well-received, but the Pokémon’s final design received a lot of criticism. Mega Malamar, the most recently revealed Mega Evolution, followed the same trend. Its trailer was impressive, but I was ultimately let down by the design itself – even the idea of mind control couldn’t change my opinion.

Mega Hawlucha is a highlight, though some players noticed the sparkling effect from its promotional art isn’t in the game itself. Beyond that, while the design is decent, it feels a bit too cautious. Previous Mega Evolutions were bolder and more creative, and Hawlucha doesn’t quite reach that level. However, designs like Dragonite, Victreebel, and Malamar prove that taking big risks doesn’t always pay off.

Is Generation 10 Going to Feature the Ugliest Pokemon Yet?

As a longtime Pokémon fan, I’ve always felt the creature designs are a mixed bag. Some are absolutely amazing, but honestly, The Pokémon Company has given us some truly questionable ones over the years! Pokémon like Mr. Mime, Purugly, Barbaracle, and Bruxish just aren’t very appealing, and others like Voltorb, Trubbish, and Vanillish just feel…silly. It’s a bit disappointing to see that *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* seems to be continuing this trend with its Mega Evolutions, and *Pokémon Scarlet* and *Pokémon Violet* definitely had some designs that missed the mark too.

Things aren’t looking good for the newest generation of Pokémon, Generation 10. While every new generation brings anticipation and new creatures, and fans always have opinions on the designs, many are worried that Generation 10’s designs are simply not up to par. The Pokémon revealed so far, particularly the new evolutions, have left some fans questioning whether The Pokémon Company can still create visually appealing Pokémon.

Throughout the history of Pokemon, some designs haven’t been considered appealing. However, many fans believe the upcoming Generation 10 will have the least attractive Pokemon yet. There’s also growing criticism that recent Pokemon designs are becoming too complex. While some designs have always faced criticism, this sentiment seems to be increasing, and Generation 10 might be the point where fans feel there are simply too many strange or unattractive Pokemon.

Are Pokemon Fans Overreacting to Bad Mega Evolutions?

It’s true that not all of the new Mega Evolutions have been popular, but the strong negative reactions some get are surprising. Take Incineroar, for instance. Many people initially disliked its design, but it’s become a powerful competitor in battles and was even included in *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*. While its design isn’t universally loved, that hasn’t stopped people from using it effectively.

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, players aren’t required to use the new Mega Evolved Pokemon, and when they do, these transformations are only temporary – the Pokemon will eventually return to their original form. Plus, not all of the Mega Evolutions have been shown yet. While some leaks have given us a peek, there’s still a strong possibility of even more exciting Mega Evolutions being revealed.

It’s okay to talk about and critique the new Pokemon designs, but some people are getting overly negative. Remember, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* is just one game in a much larger series, and future installments could bring amazing new designs. Even though I’m a little unsure about the current direction, we should wait to see what happens and not let our expectations spoil an entire new generation of Pokemon before we’ve even seen it.
