In the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, fans have long disliked the trading feature, a sentiment that has been felt since its introduction earlier this year. Fortunately, the game’s creators have acknowledged player dissatisfaction and plan to implement significant improvements soon. From now on, users can compile Wishlists for up to 20 cards they desire, with three of these wishes visible on their profile. Unfortunately, existing trade restrictions will still apply, meaning players cannot exchange cards with a two-star rarity or higher.
In the upcoming updates, the contentious Trade Tokens are being phased out in favor of using Shinedust for trades within the game. Additionally, players will receive twice as much Shinedust when they obtain a card that’s already registered in their Card Dex. Previously accumulated Trade Tokens can still be exchanged once these changes are implemented. Players will have the option to swap one Trade Token for one Pack Hourglass, allowing for up to 60 exchanges in total. Alternatively, players can exchange Trade Tokens for Shinedust without a limit. One Trade Token is equal to 10 Shinedust, and players can exchange them in batches of Shinedust x10, Shinedust x100, or Shinedust x1,000.
Players of the Pokemon TCG Pocket game won’t need to wait too long for these upcoming modifications; the update is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29th at 11 p.m. Pacific Time. In preparation for this update, trades within the game will be halted starting on Thursday, July 24th, at the same time. After the update is finished on July 29th, players will no longer be able to exchange their cards for Trade Tokens. Those aiming to increase their current stockpile of Trade Tokens prior to the changes should remember this date.
The news about the upcoming features for Pokemon TCG Pocket today wasn’t entirely unexpected by players; indeed, many of the details had already been leaked last month, even including the release date. Nevertheless, not all players closely follow leaks, and responses to the announcement have been generally favorable. What players are hoping for is a more diverse trading system, particularly the ability to obtain rare promo cards they may have missed out on. There’s a possibility that DeNa could enhance trading functionality in the future, especially if there’s enough interest. For now, enthusiasts will just have to make do with these advancements.
In the past, I’ve seldom engaged in trading within the Pokemon TCG Pocket app because of its complex demands. However, the recent updates have been quite refreshing. The inclusion of a wishlist feature is particularly appreciated as it simplifies the process and makes finding desired cards less cumbersome without requiring additional steps outside the application. I’m optimistic that developers will continue to improve trading functionality, allowing for more player flexibility.
