Pokemon TCG Pocket Is Finally Adding New Event Types (But Fan Reactions Are Mixed)

Okay, so I’ve been playing Pokemon TCG Pocket since it launched in October 2025, and honestly, things have gotten a little predictable. Every month we get a new booster pack, and the events are usually the same three things: Emblem Events, Wonder Picks, and Drops. They’ll throw in some daily logins or bonus stuff now and then, but a lot of us have been hoping for something new to do. Well, today the game finally delivered! It’s about time, honestly.

From April 4th to April 11th, Pokemon TCG Pocket is holding a Community Week event focused on encouraging players to connect with each other. The event includes missions and rewards for using the game’s social features, like trading and sharing cards. While many players will likely appreciate the push to interact, some aren’t thrilled with the game encouraging these activities.

I was happy to find new event missions available when I opened the Pokemon TCG Pocket app today. It’s a refreshing change after the same missions being available for months. These Community Week missions actually encourage players to try out different parts of the app, like sharing cards – a new social feature. You also get rewards for using the ‘Thanks’ button to interact with others and for starting and finishing trades. It seems like Community Week is even helping players connect and make friends within the Pokemon TCG Pocket community.

These special events are designed to help players reconnect with each other. I’ve seen fewer of my friends playing regularly, especially when it comes to trading and sharing helpful items. Increasing this interaction could make logging into Pokemon TCG Pocket more rewarding, and building a strong community has always been important to the Pokemon series. However, some players aren’t happy about the possibility of receiving a lot more Shares.

Okay, so I’m hearing a lot of players are getting annoyed with the card sharing in Pokemon TCG Pocket. It’s cool to get more cards, sure, but nobody wants a bunch of stuff they’ll never use! The problem is, instead of checking what cards people actually want – like looking at wishlists – some players just send random stuff. It’s frustrating when you’re hoping for something specific and get a ‘junk’ card instead.

As a long-time player, getting a notification for a new card is always exciting! But honestly, if it’s just a duplicate I already have a ton of, it feels like a bit of a letdown – just another thing to dismiss. I’m hearing some Pokemon TCG Pocket players are even talking about deleting friends this week instead of adding them, just to avoid the constant notifications! That’s totally the opposite of what DeNA intended with Community Week, and it seems like there are other problems too.

I just heard something really frustrating about Pokemon TCG Pocket! Apparently, if you’re new to the game, you have to wait a full seven days before you can even share cards. That means anyone starting to play during Community Week, which runs from April 4th to the 11th, might not have enough time to finish all the challenges and get all the rewards. It’s a bummer that new players are being limited like that during a special event!

Even though it’s not perfect, many players are excited about the new content in Pokemon TCG Pocket. At least it gives us a chance to earn valuable Pack Hourglasses and a cool new Seasons Display Board.
