When Pokemon TCG Pocket launched in October 2024, everyone was playing it! It was a huge hit right away. The initial buzz has calmed down a bit, but it still has a really dedicated player base and continues to make good money. Honestly, even though the game is doing well, a lot of us are hoping the developers add some features to just make playing it smoother and more enjoyable. Luckily, the next update might finally address one of the biggest complaints people have had about the game.

It was surprising when Pokemon TCG Pocket launched without a trading feature, despite being a trading card game. When trading was finally added, players weren’t happy with it, and DeNA promised to improve it, which they’ve been doing gradually. Even with a simpler system, many players still aren’t satisfied with how trading works. However, a new feature coming with the next booster packs might address these concerns.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Will Add Quality-of-Life Updates Alongside Fantastical Parade Pack Update

On January 22nd, Pokemon TCG Pocket announced its upcoming booster packs. The mobile game will receive a big update on January 29th, introducing the new Fantastical Parade boosters. While new card releases are always welcome in Pokemon TCG Pocket, this update includes more than just new cards.

Updates to Pokemon TCG Pocket usually happen when new card packs are released, and DeNA often uses these times to add other improvements. While trailers typically highlight the new cards, they sometimes overlook other changes. The upcoming Fantastical Parade update includes a few of these less-publicized improvements that you should be aware of.

A free update is coming on January 29th with two new features for the game. You’ll be able to jump into random solo battles where your opponent’s deck is a mystery until the match starts – a fun option for those who enjoy player-versus-player combat. However, the most exciting addition, in my opinion, is a new messaging system for trading. While it’s not ideal, it has the potential to significantly improve the current trading experience.

Trading In Pokemon TCG Pocket Keeps Getting Better, But Is It Enough?

When trading was first added to Pokemon TCG Pocket, it wasn’t very popular. It used a complicated system with multiple currencies and didn’t have many cards available for trade. However, Pokemon TCG Pocket has significantly improved the trading system since then. Now, trades use a single currency called Stardust, and a Wishlist feature helps players find the cards they’re looking for.

Despite recent improvements, many players aren’t completely satisfied with the trading experience in Pokemon TCG Pocket. It’s often hard to clearly express what cards you need, even when using the wishlist. Plus, it can be difficult to view another player’s complete wishlist. Luckily, an upcoming update scheduled for January 29th aims to address these issues.

I’m really excited about the new messaging feature! It looks like we’ll be able to quickly ask about trades for cards on our wishlists or even cards in different languages. That’s a big help when trying to complete sets. Honestly, though, the way it’s described makes it sound like we can only pick from pre-written messages, which feels a little restrictive. I get that they’re probably trying to prevent people from being rude or spammy, but being limited to presets might make it hard to actually discuss trades properly.

Honestly, it’s tough to say if this new trading feature will really improve things until it’s all finished. Right now, the little tweaks they’re making just aren’t grabbing players quickly enough. Even though Pokemon TCG Pocket is still pretty popular, most of us aren’t using the trading feature much, and that worries me. It feels like it could become a real issue if they don’t nail it.

It can be frustrating for players to collect cards if they can’t trade rare ones or easily connect with others to make deals. Many players are also unhappy with how often new card packs come out, making it hard for those who don’t spend money to keep up.
