Eevee is a hugely popular Pokémon, loved for its cute design and the many different forms it can evolve into, each with a unique type. However, the Pokémon Company hasn’t added a new Eeveelution since the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games. That means four generations of Pokémon games have been released without a new Eevee evolution, and fans are eager for something new. Honestly, Eevee still has so much potential, and it would be a real shame if the next generation didn’t explore it!

Pokemon Winds & Waves Can Tap Into Unused Types

Fans are still hoping for more Eeveelutions because there are many Pokemon types that Eevee hasn’t evolved into yet. While there are already nine different Eeveelutions, types like Dragon, Ghost, Poison, Rock, Steel, Ground, Flying, and Bug are still missing. Adding an Eeveelution for one of these types would create a unique design and a powerful new Pokemon. If the new Pokemon Winds and Waves game includes another Eevee evolution, it’s a chance to introduce something new while staying true to the popular Eeveelution style.

Eevee’s evolutions, known as Eeveelutions, have always been designed around strong themes and appearances. For example, Vaporeon looks like a water creature, and Leafeon includes plant features. Fans often ask for a Dragon-type Eeveelution because Dragon Pokémon used to be very rare. A Ghost-type would also be popular due to its interesting abilities and spooky design. Alternatively, a Steel or Rock type could offer a more defensive and physically strong option, providing a contrast to the quicker, special-attack focused Eeveelutions we already have.

The possibilities aren’t limited to just new moves. New abilities, move options, and stat arrangements could lead to completely fresh strategies for competitive Pokemon players. While Eeveelutions aren’t often seen in tournaments, the growing popularity of competitive Pokemon and the upcoming Pokemon Champions game make Generation 10 an ideal time to introduce new evolutions that could compete at the highest levels. Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves have a lot of potential, and the Pokemon Company’s decision to postpone their release might actually be a good thing, allowing for further development and refinement.

Four Generations Is a Long Wait For Eevee Fans

This debate keeps coming up because it’s been a long time since a new Pokémon evolution was introduced. Sylveon was the last one, appearing in Generation 6, and since then, Generations 7, 8, and 9 have all come and gone without adding another form. This is a particularly long gap for a series known for revisiting familiar ideas. While some generations have skipped new Eeveelutions, it’s been four generations since the last one, and fans are eager for a new addition to the family.

Over the years, the Pokémon games have introduced new battle features like Mega Evolution, regional forms, Dynamax, and Terastallization. While these additions made battles more complex, some classic elements were less emphasized. The introduction of new Eevee evolutions might have been put on hold while the developers focused on these other features. If Pokemon Winds and Waves introduces a new form of Eevee, it would be the first in over ten years. Bringing back this idea would link the new games to a popular tradition from past Pokemon titles and give players something fresh to find. Many fans have waited four generations for this, and it feels like the right time. While Pokemon Winds and Waves appear to be the most expansive games yet, they’ll feel truly complete with new evolutions for Eevee.
