A fresh television show titled “Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu” has been unveiled during the Pokemon Presents 2025 live stream. This is a stop-motion narrative that takes place in the Galar region, providing “Sword & Shield” fans with a long-awaited story set in the UK-inspired locale.
For many years, the primary Pokemon animated series has consistently placed Ash Ketchum and his team in the region that had been introduced in the main video game franchise most recently. Starting from the Indigo League in the Kanto region up to Pokemon Sun & Moon on the sunny islands of Alola, this pattern remained unchanged. However, after winning the Championship in Alola, Ash’s path took an unexpected turn.
In the premiere of Pokemon Horizons, instead of focusing on Hop, Gloria, or Victor as the main characters alongside Ash, the series began. Although Ash and Goh sometimes ventured to the Galar region, it was not like the original storyline. The tale of Galar was fragmented and failed to fully convey its unique charm. However, The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu offered a touching narrative that truly encapsulated the enchantment and magic of Generation 8.
The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu Bring Galar to Life
During the 2025 Pokemon Presents live broadcast, dedicated Pokemon enthusiasts received numerous updates about the beloved series, including the anticipated title, Pokemon Concierge. What truly surprised everyone was the unveiling of a brand-new series. The tantalizing teaser trailer for The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu left many eagerly anticipating its release.
In the trailer, viewers are given a brief introduction to Aardman Animations, the studio responsible for it. Renowned for their creations like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, they’re now collaborating with Pokemon to produce a charmingly funny new series titled The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu using stop-motion animation.
In the trailer, we see a plump Wooloo munching on grass peacefully in the Galar fields. But tranquility soon turns to turmoil as commotion and blasts erupt from behind it. Amidst the pandemonium, Pichu seems to be in danger, causing an uproar. Just as Sirfetch’d gives chase after Pichu, the Wooloo notices an apple rolling near it. As Sirfetch’d pursues Pichu, the carefree Wooloo disregards the chaos and casually enjoys its newfound treat.
During the livestream, some fans voiced concerns about the absence of upcoming Black & White remakes, but overall, they were thrilled by the unveiling of the new series.
Pokemon Fans Get the Best Chance Yet of Seeing Galar in All Its Glory

Fans of Sword & Shield, eagerly anticipate the opportunity to re-explore Galar, a region that was conspicuously absent from the animated series narrative. Rich in folklore, Galar stands out as one of the rare games set in the UK region. With Aardman Studios, based in Bristol, England, taking part in the new series, fans can look forward to a more authentic storyline, given the studio’s local roots.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled that despite missing out on the grand Gigantamax Gym battles, epic tales like Piers’ downfall under Chairman Rose and the long-awaited animated rivalry between Leon and Raihan, we’ll still get to immerse ourselves in the captivating countryside of Galar, thanks to Aardman’s distinctive animation style. It’s going to be an unforgettable journey!
Currently, we’re expecting the premiere of “The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu” to happen around 2027. This means fans might have to hold on for at least a year, or possibly more, until the first season is released. It’s probable that we’ll get more details about this series next year as The Pokemon Company kicks off their 30th anniversary festivities. In the meantime, Pokémon enthusiasts from Galar can satisfy their craving for stop-motion depictions of Generation 8 Pokémon by rewatching “Sword & Shield“, or engaging in a Gigantamax Eternatus Battle within “Pokemon Go“.
