It took five years to create, but Will Smith’s new series, Pole to Pole, is now gaining popularity on streaming platforms. While many famous actors are now appearing in TV shows, blurring the lines between film and television, Smith hasn’t taken a leading role on TV since he first became well-known in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Despite his Oscar win, the actor has continued to work in television. He’s been an executive producer on shows like Cobra Kai and the limited series Women of the Movement, and he’s frequently hosted documentary series, including Amend: Fight for America and Will Smith’s Bucket List.
Will Smith’s new documentary series, Pole to Pole, is quickly becoming popular on streaming platforms since its release in early January. The seven-episode series has landed in the Top 10 in multiple European countries like Austria, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland, with especially strong performance in the Czech Republic, where it’s currently ranked at number 6.
New episodes of Pole to Pole are released every Tuesday on National Geographic at 9 PM Pacific Time, and are available on Hulu and Disney+ for viewers in the U.S. The series will continue until its final episode on February 3rd. It took five years to create, combining the latest scientific research with compelling environmental stories and daring adventures, following actor Will Smith as he tackles a variety of challenges over 100 days.
Smith takes on incredible challenges like mountain climbing, skiing to the South Pole, and even encountering dangerous wildlife – from giant anacondas to venomous tarantulas. He’s also contributed to groundbreaking scientific discoveries, all while building relationships with the people he meets during his adventures.
Will Smith’s documentary series, Pole to Pole, was first revealed in February 2022. This is his third project with National Geographic, following One Strange Rock (2018) and Welcome to Earth (2021). In addition to this series, Smith is also involved in several upcoming films as both an actor and a producer.
As a huge Will Smith fan, I’m excited about what’s coming up for him! There’s talk of him maybe revisiting I Am Legend, which would be amazing. But if you’re looking for something completely different, his new docuseries Pole to Pole is already getting a lot of buzz – and it only just dropped on January 13th! It seems like everyone’s starting to talk about it, and I’m definitely adding it to my watchlist.
