Police Address Cause of Alec Baldwin, Stephen Baldwin’s Car Accident

New details about Alec Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin’s frightening car accident have emerged.

Following an incident on October 13th where Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin crashed his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s Range Rover into a tree in East Hampton, New York, while driving with his brother, authorities have explained what happened.

According to East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael D. Sarlo, 67-year-old Alec was trying to steer clear of a truck belonging to National Waste Services when the crash happened, as reported by Us Weekly on October 14th.

The report also mentioned that the driver reacted to a nearby vehicle and the wet, slick road as factors in the crash. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and no tickets were given.

Shortly after the crash, Alec said he and Stephen, 59, were not injured. He explained that a very large garbage truck unexpectedly pulled in front of him while he was driving Hilaria’s SUV.

I was shocked watching his Instagram video! He explained that to swerve and avoid hitting someone, he ended up crashing into a tree, which unfortunately totaled his wife’s car. He really seemed upset about the damage to her car, and kept repeating how bad he felt about it.

The actor expressed his gratitude to the officers who helped him and his brother, and shared that he’ll be reuniting with his wife and children – Carmen (11), Rafael (10), Leonardo (8), Romeo (7), Eduardo and María Lucía (both 4), and Ilaria (2) – soon.

He said he’s heading to Los Angeles to visit his family and is really looking forward to it. He plans to get together with them in California for a few days before returning home.

A representative for Stephen said the actor, known for *Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas*, was relieved no one was hurt. In a statement to TopMob News, the representative confirmed that both Stephen and Alec are safe and doing well, and expressed gratitude for everyone’s concern.

Hilaria Baldwin, recently eliminated from *Dancing With the Stars*, responded to fans who contacted her about the situation.

In a video posted to Instagram, she addressed the reports of a car accident involving Alec. She confirmed that thankfully, no one was injured, and that was the most important news.

In February 2017, Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, Maddie Aldridge, then eight years old, was riding an ATV near their home in Louisiana when she crashed into a pond. She was underwater for several minutes before being rescued.

It was absolutely terrifying. I remember finally getting my daughter out of the water, and when I saw her, I honestly thought we’d lost her. The first responders took her from me, and in that moment, we truly believed she was gone. It was the scariest experience of my life, something I shared on the *Better Together* podcast with Maria Menounos back in 2020.

Although the extent of her injuries was initially unclear, Maddie regained consciousness and was able to speak after two days. Just a few weeks later, she was back to living life as usual.

Jamie Lynn shared that she feels incredibly grateful to have her daughter back after a difficult time when they were separated. She described it as a blessing to be reunited.

An accidental prop gun strike injured Rebel Wilson on the set of her 2025 action comedy, *Bride Hard*. During a fight scene on her final day of filming, a gun hit her in the face, splitting her nose. “It was just a freak accident,” Wilson told *Access Hollywood* in June 2025. “I had to leave set, and it was my last night of shooting. I couldn’t believe how unlucky I was!”

She described being terrified when she was seriously injured in 2023, explaining that she was covered in blood. An ambulance was called, and a plastic surgeon had to be brought in to repair the damage. She said the surgery was successful, and the injury is now barely noticeable.

Jimmy Fallon, the host of *The Tonight Show*, had a scary accident at home. He tripped and fell, and while trying to brace himself, his ring caught on something, nearly ripping his finger off.

Doctors hospitalized him for ten days to try and save his finger after he suffered a severe ring injury – a “ring avulsion” – that threatened amputation.

In June 2025, Zane Wach, a seasoned hiker and multi-sport athlete who competes in running, swimming, and triathlons, almost succumbed to altitude sickness while hiking Mount Whitney in California with his father, Ryan Wach.

Ryan told SFGATE that the 14-year-old began having hallucinations, but he was aware they weren’t real. He reported seeing things like snowmen and Kermit the Frog.

Ryan had to repeatedly stop his teenage son from walking off the cliff as they hiked back down the trail. The father explained that his son seemed to be experiencing a break from reality, and they still aren’t sure what caused it. Ryan believes it was likely a combination of factors, including exhaustion, lack of sleep, dehydration, and lingering effects from altitude sickness.

After two unsuccessful tries, Ryan couldn’t reach Zane in time, and watched helplessly as his son fell about 120 feet from the cliff. It took six hours for a rescue helicopter from Inyo County to arrive and transport Zane to the hospital in Lone Pine, where he was initially stabilized before being moved to a specialized trauma center for children in Las Vegas. Doctors put Zane into a medically induced coma, but he eventually started breathing independently.

Ryan described his teenager’s recovery from a serious accident – including a head injury, broken finger, ankle, and fractured pelvis – as a long journey. He said, ‘We’re still going through it, but he’s expected to survive.’

On New Year’s Day in 2023, actor Jeremy Renner, known for his role in *Avengers*, was seriously injured while using a snowplow near his Lake Tahoe home. He was trying to help free a stuck truck when he got pulled under the vehicle after stepping out, and sustained 38 broken bones while trying to prevent it from hitting his nephew.

In his 2025 memoir, My Next Breath, he described lying on the ice on New Year’s Day, his heartbeat slowing. He wrote that after about thirty minutes of manually breathing – a strenuous effort he compared to doing ten to twenty push-ups every minute for half an hour – he simply grew tired and died, unbeknownst to his daughter, sisters, friends, or parents.

He nearly died after breaking bones, losing a lot of blood, and facing dangerous cold. He wrote that he believes he actually did die, explaining that paramedics found his heart rate had dropped to just 18 beats per minute – a level they consider fatal.

In May 2025, TikTok creator Emilie Kiser and her husband, Brady, experienced a terrifying ordeal when their three-year-old son, Trigg, accidentally fell into their pool at their home in Arizona.

On May 12th, Chandler Police responded to a home where a young child had been found unconscious in a backyard pool. Police and firefighters immediately began CPR, and the child, identified as Trigg, was taken to Chandler Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, Trigg died six days later.

Emilie filed a lawsuit asking the court to prevent Maricopa County from releasing details about his death. The lawsuit explained that Emilie is focused on caring for her two-month-old son, Theodore, and is struggling emotionally every day.

Dr. Cara Hodgson described a family trip to Thailand as “the worst 10 days” of her life after a December 2023 accident where she was shocked by power lines. She lost consciousness and was taken to the emergency room, then spent the following week and a half in and out of hospitals working to recover and save her life, as she shared in an Instagram post on New Year’s Day. She expressed immense gratitude to still be alive.

Despite the discomfort, the orthodontist discovered a renewed appreciation for life. Cara explained that the experience reminded her – and all of us – to cherish simple things: “Being able to breathe, eat, speak, and move is a wonderful gift and something to celebrate.”

In June 2025, Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins died in a hiking accident on Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia. She fell from a cliff, and despite a four-day search by a 48-person rescue team, her body was only found after being hampered by bad weather, difficult terrain, and poor visibility, according to a statement from the Brazilian government. Fortunately, she did not fall into the volcano’s crater.

Juliana Marins has sadly passed away, her family announced on Instagram. The rescue team reached her location today, but she did not survive. The family expressed their deep gratitude for all the prayers, kind messages, and support they received.

In 2015, actress Tori Spelling, known for her role on *Beverly Hills, 90210*, accidentally burned her right arm on a hot grill while at an Easter brunch at Benihana. She required skin grafts and later decided to file a lawsuit against the restaurant.

She revealed on her 2024 podcast, *9021OMG* (co-hosted with Jennie Garth), that she received a skin graft from her thigh after a severe burn. She jokingly said, ‘Not many people can say they’re wearing their thigh on their arm,’ explaining that a thin layer of skin from her thigh was used to cover the burn on her arm.

I was absolutely heartbroken to hear about Tony Knight. He was at the Rock&Cars festival in France this June, and tragically, he was killed when some large branches fell from a tree. He was only 54, and from what I understand, really enjoying life. Hayley Wright’s sister, Joanne Allen, shared on GoFundMe that he was incredibly fit, healthy, and happy – just full of life and charisma. It’s such a loss; he seemed to have everything going for him, and was such a funny, passionate person.

Oh my gosh, everyone who knew him just *loved* him, especially his partner! She posted the sweetest thing online, saying he was unbelievably talented – seriously, he could do *anything*! She said he was an incredible friend to so many people, and the best dog dad ever… but honestly, she said he was her whole world, and it’s just… it’s not going to be the same without him. It’s just heartbreaking.

A company celebration turned tragic in January 2024 when the cage holding Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah and President Vishwanath Raju Datla failed during a stunt at a party in India. The two executives were meant to be lowered 20 feet onto a stage to kick off the Chicago-based software company’s 25th anniversary celebration, but two wires broke, causing them to fall onto the concrete stage, according to a report in *The Times of India*.

Sanjay, age 56, died at the hospital after the accident, according to reports. Vishwanath, 52, suffered a serious head injury and sadly died several months later.

In a 2022 Instagram video with UNICEF, Orlando Bloom revealed that when he was 19, he fell three stories from a window and broke his back. He was attempting to climb onto the roof of a building with friends when the drainpipe he was holding onto gave way. Luckily, he survived with a fractured spine, and his spinal cord remained intact, though narrowly so.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what he told me. He said when he was in the hospital, the doctors actually told him for the first four days that he might *never* walk again! Can you imagine?! He said that was really when things started, a super long and difficult process of him realizing all these patterns in his life – things that had caused him so many accidents over the years. It all came to a head when he broke his back, and he said it was a truly near-death experience. It’s just…so powerful to hear him talk about it.

After leaving the hospital with a back brace and struggling with both physical and emotional pain, he immediately started going out and partying—still wearing the brace, he told *GQ* in 2005. It took a few months for him to accept this new reality and decide he needed to turn his life around.

He said the experience completely changed his perspective on life. “You don’t appreciate things until you almost lose them,” he explained. He used to be a reckless driver and motorcyclist, always pushing his limits, not for show, but because he enjoyed the thrill. “I’ve definitely slowed down now,” he added.
