More details are coming to light about the tragic death in Duane “Dog” Chapman’s family.
Two days after the tragic accidental shooting of his 13-year-old son Anthony, which occurred on July 19 at their apartment in Naples and involved Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson Gregory Zecca, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has announced that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding Anthony’s death.
At exactly 8:08 PM, the call reached us (our dispatch),” they noted in their statement to TopMob News on July 21. “It was a standalone event.
While there have not been any arrests in connection to the shooting, the investigation is ongoing.
In their detailed probe, our investigators are examining every aspect of this unfortunate event. This examination encompasses testimonies from eyewitnesses present at the site, lab analyses, issuance of legal documents such as subpoenas and warrants for searches.
Immediately following the sad announcement, the reality TV personality and his wife Francie Frane – who has Gregory with her from her previous marriage – openly showed their deep sorrow upon Anthony’s death.
Our family is deeply mourning an unbearable, unfortunate incident that took the life of our cherished grandson, Anthony. We kindly request ongoing support and prayers during this difficult time as we cope with our sorrow.
Later on, it was discovered that the couple who got married in 2021 first connected through sharing the sorrow of losing their respective partners due to cancer.
In a conversation on TMZ Live in May 2020, Dog expressed that he and Francie, who is also a rancher, had a heartfelt discussion following the loss of their respective spouses (his wife and Beth Chapman) to cancer within six months of each other. They shared tears, consoled each other, and surprisingly found companionship in their shared grief. Dog marveled at the serendipity of meeting someone like Francie. In simpler terms, they connected deeply after going through a similar tragic event, providing emotional support for each other.

As he welcomed a caring new companion into his life, the 72-year-old, father of 13 children, began gradually recovering and regaining his familiar sense of self.
I’m a problem solver, focused on apprehending wrongdoers. I need to be at my best, without letting self-pity or guilt hold me back. It’s my job to make a positive impact – that’s what I get paid for. She assists me in maintaining this mindset.
