We suspected Ninja Gaiden 4 might receive mixed reactions, given its return after a long hiatus. However, from what we’ve seen online, it appears to be well-received by both new players and dedicated fans of the series.
The latest installment in the Ninja Gaiden series, developed with help from the teams behind popular games like Bayonetta, Vanquish, and NieR: Automata (PlatinumGames), offers a slightly different gameplay experience than previous titles.
You can definitely see elements from PlatinumGames in this title – the way you time defenses feels very familiar to their past games. However, it still keeps the fast-paced, challenging, and intense action that defines Ninja Gaiden.
In our review of Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5, we said it’s a fantastic action game that really shines when it comes to fighting.
So, we gave the game a 7 out of 10, which felt fair. Honestly, the levels were kinda boring and the story was super predictable, but when things went crazy with the action, it was awesome! It really shined when you just got into the fights.
While not perfect, the game’s simple design, focus on challenging combat, and surprisingly over-the-top acting all come together to create an action experience that wonderfully evokes classic games of the past.
