Fans of the horror game Poppy Playtime have been waiting a long time, but the next chapter is almost here! Chapter 5 will be released on February 18th, and the developers have already given us a sneak peek at the scary things to come. Now, Mob Entertainment is giving fans another chance to explore the world of Playtime Co. with a new puzzle that reveals a promising clue about the game’s story.
Following a series of mysterious hints, the creators of Poppy Playtime, Mob Entertainment, posted another puzzling message on January 21st, directing fans to the game’s Discord server. There, the community worked together to solve a new, unusual puzzle. The solution led them to a hidden video containing previously unseen footage from the past of Playtime Co. The video is set in November 1990 and provides more details about the unsettling events within the toy company, sparking new fan theories about what will happen in Chapter 5.
New Poppy Playtime Teaser Reveals Fresh Lore and Spawns New Fan Theories
Mob Entertainment is building excitement for the next installment of Poppy Playtime by engaging fans with a new puzzle. Continuing a tradition from previous chapters, players are invited to solve an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) to unlock behind-the-scenes footage of the eerie Playtime Co. Even long-time fans will discover new details in this recently revealed “Restricted Tape” footage, which explores the history of Playtime Co. and the scientists’ attempts to address Subject 1188. Looking back at Playtime Co.’s history doesn’t offer much hope for the future. Fans of Poppy Playtime will recognize CatNap (also known as Subject 1188) from Chapter 3 in this video, which tells his origin story. He also appeared briefly in the Chapter 5 prototype trailer, and his past may provide clues about what’s to come for Playtime Co.
Newly discovered footage, labeled “Restricted Tape,” shows Subject 1188 – the entity responsible for the deaths of six Playtime Co. workers – being subjected to cruel and torturous experiments. After a long period of testing, the subject, previously known as Theodore, now calls itself CatNap, and it’s clearly enraged. Having seemingly escaped, CatNap is now hunting those who experimented on it, and appears just as dangerous – if not more so – at the end of the footage as it did at the beginning.
Playtime Co.’s recent announcement has given us a glimpse into the company’s history. It also makes us wonder what might happen in Poppy Playtime Chapter 5. While it’s still uncertain, fans are already sharing their theories on the official Discord server. Many believe there’s more to this mystery, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
