Peacock is adding the popular movie Hellboy to its selection. The film, originally released by Sony Pictures, is based on the comic book character of the same name created by Mike Mignola in 1993.
Which Hellboy movie is now available on Peacock?
Guillermo del Toro’s critically acclaimed 2004 film, Hellboy, is now available to stream on Peacock. The movie stars Ron Perlman as Hellboy, alongside Selma Blair, Doug Jones, Jeffrey Tambor, John Hurt, Karel Roden, Rupert Evans, and Brian Steele. Since its release, Hellboy has received largely positive reviews and currently has an 81% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The story begins at the close of World War II, when Nazis tried to open a gateway to another dimension to win the war. They only managed to summon a baby demon, who was then saved by Allied soldiers and named Hellboy. Sixty years later, Hellboy works for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, protecting America from supernatural threats. He’s assisted by Abe Sapien, a psychic merman, and Liz Sherman, who can control fire.
Guillermo del Toro wrote and directed the film. Lawrence Gordon, Lloyd Levin, and Mike Richardson produced it, while Mike Mignola and Patrick Palmer were executive producers. Guillermo Navarro handled the cinematography, Peter Amundson edited the film, and Marco Beltrami composed the music. The movie was well-received by critics, leading to a sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, in 2008, again starring Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
